Kanpur: On Thursday, the Nagar Nigam House remained disturbed again. Raising query on smart city works one corporator raised enquiry on several works done under the plan. Another Corporator suggested if the tender was submitted on less than 15% it should be cancelled. Further, one more Corporator demanded that the KDA should not allow construction without passing the map.The clamour began with the garlanding to Project Manager, Jal Nigam. Was it a Gandhigiri or a disgrace to him?
Corporators were supposed to have decided to oppose him on the delay in restoring the pits and settling the water crisis. The Corporators leaning towards the Congress party made up their minds to garland the officer. In the meantime, there was some pushing and kicking which enraged BJP favoured Corporators. As a result, they started shouting slogans.
Seeing the intensity of the controversy the Nagar Ayukt helped the project manager exit safely from the spot. The Mayor ordered the suspension of three corporators. However, the officers were not wholly pacified. The mayor said to them it was not their office but the NN House. She even went on saying today your one officer was disgraced so you were feeling bad. When the development work did not complet in the Wards, the Corporators were made to bear odds.
Even Commissioner, DM, ADM (city) and others reached Nigam and continued their meeting in closed doors. The Mayor looked unhappy at officers leaving House. She termed it as her humiliation. At one time the Nagar Ayukt was persistently stressing on his transfer. The Mayor outrightly told the Commissioner that the DM was acting rigidly.
