 Ambulance Kanpur UP India

Kanpur: If ambulances are running on the road without certified fitness, accidents can occur at any time. There is no strictness in the maintenance of the ambulances. Why does this unfortunate laxity prevail upon?

Although the ARTO officers have now started to show alertness by despatching notices to the owners of the ambulances, yet there is much to initiate in this regard.

It will be apt to mention here that the paucity in the quantity of the ambulances had been realised during the peak of the second horrible wave of the Coronavirus here. The patients were found to be desperate for the facility of ambulances.

Giving detailed information, Sudhir Verma ARTO ( admin) said that as many as 414 ambulances were registered in the respective names of the government and the private institutions in Kanpur.

He further said that strangely enough, 40% of them were running without certified fitness. It meant a total of 174 vehicles were not received fitness certificates.

However, he did not fail to mention that those government vehicles that were not brought for the fitness certification for over 20 long years, might have been declared condemned vehicles.

Despite that very doubt, the institution had neither informed of the condemned vehicle nor surrendered the chassis number to the Office.

The files and the registration papers of the vehicles were being searched out. At least copies of notices to the institutions concerned were already despatched, he also stated adding that no feedback has been received so far.

Department action would also be commenced through the enforcement team.

Meanwhile, It was also learnt that a fitness certificate was a must after two years for a 7-seater private vehicle, goods vehicle or commercial passenger vehicle.

The transport office's regional inspector  (technical) checks the vehicle's steering, brakes, shocker, indicators, lights and other technical parts and only then issues a copy of the fitness certificate.

It was also learnt that as many as twelve ambulances owned by various hospitals have not been undergone the fitness test for the past several years.

While as many as three ambulances registered with the name of inspector general, police, Fazalganj, Kanpur were not taken fitness certificate after the year 2013.

Likewise, one ambulance registered with the name of GM Ordinance was not brought for fitness test in the 21 long years.
