11 Sep 2021; MEMO: Palestinian doctor Hazem Al-Joulani, 50, on Friday evening succumbed to wounds sustained earlier in the day in Jerusalem's Old City, Quds Press reported.
The Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO)'s Committee of Prisoners and Freed Prisoners confirmed that Al-Joulani succumbed to his wounds after being admitted to an Israeli hospital.
Israeli security sources claimed that Israeli police opened fire at Al-Joulani when he attempted to stab an Israeli police officer. No casualties were reported among Israeli police.
Following the incident, the Israeli occupation police closed the gates of the Old City.
Eyewitnesses said that the Israeli occupation forces raided Jerusalem's neighbourhood of Shu'fat, stormed Al-Joulani's house and detained both of his brothers and sons.
This incident came amidst increasing Israeli settler raids of Al-Aqsa mosque in the Old City, disregarding the Muslims watching the Jewish settlers wandering freely inside the holiest place for Muslims in Palestine, while they are being banned or expelled from it.
