TASHKENT, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and the OPEC Fund for International Development agreed to provide loans worth 275 million U.S. dollars on rural development in Uzbekistan, a presidential decree said Tuesday.
A loan of 200 million dollars will come from the IsDB, the OPEC Fund for International Development will allocate 75 million dollars, and Uzbekistan will also contribute 60 million dollars to the project, according to the decree.
The Uzbek Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction has been designated as the executive body responsible for the implementation and coordination of the project, as well as effective use of the loans.
The project will cover 20 districts in some regions of the populous Central Asian nation with an aim to upgrade the country's rural settlements as well as improve its road and transportation infrastructure, engineering and communication networks and social facilities.
