Kanpur: The IIT-K has taken a big step in the foray of research with the full swing operations of the National Centre of Geodesy here.
The department set up in the year 2019 was equipped with state-of-the-art facilities.
It was commissioned to perform the second Project Monitoring and Management Committee assembly on September 16.
With the advanced infrastructure now, the NCG visions to nucleate and nourish education, along with expanding the scope of R&D ventures in the field of Geodesy.
Prof. Onkar Dikshit, Department of Civil Engineering, IIT likes to provide national centre extensive support to aspirants and researchers working in Geodesy.
All subjects within the extent of geodetic techniques, to understand the Earth's rotation and discerning the exact gravitational field with the usage of satellites such as GRACE, GOCE, CHAMP, will be studied here.
The department extends support to the state and central government in matters pertained to Geodesy along with providing training, laboratory and resources to researchers from other institutes.
It is hoped that these provisos will help to spread awareness, knowledge and expand development activities to facilitate the NCG vision.
