India: How was admission scene at city's older college hall?

Kanpur: The hall was big. It gave the impression that it had been an older degree college. The teachers were sitting on seats by their comfort and busy in conversation. The admission for graduate and post-graduate classes was underway.

The admission seekers were coming ang returning. There was an arrangement for examining the admission form and thereafter the verification process.

The fee was accepted in the form of a demand draft. The instant check of the bank-issued statement was also not evaded. The bank draft must be written in favour of the college concerned.

If the draft mentioned the name of the college and the place was not typed, it raised clerical quick attention. In one such case the assistant approached his colleague to ascertain the acceptance of the draft, the response remained no matter, accept it.

What looked unique at the time was the assistants attending the admission work did not have a pen. They demanded it either from the students or others known to them.

When enquired of this tendency they said we bring in to use our pens but even give it to needy. If it was so why are they demanding pens from others? asked the students.
