08 Oct 2021; MEMO: Indonesia's Aqsa Working Group (AWG) today condemned the new Israeli ruling that allows Jews to worship in Islam's third most holy site, Al-Aqsa Mosque.
"We strongly condemn Israel's policy of allowing Jews to worship at Al Aqsa mosque. This is a provocative and unreasonable policy," AWG said in its statement, stressing that Jews are allowed to pray in Muslim holy sites while access to Muslims is "severely restrict[ed]".
This, the body said, is "another face of Israeli aggression against Al Aqsa mosque. It shows that Israel's commitment to peace is a mere political jargon that is used only to deceive the world."
Calling on Palestinians to "be patient and continue to inflame resistance against Zionist Israel", AWG stressed that such "resistance will only succeed if all components unite for the realization of national unity. Disputes, let alone internal divisions, will only perpetuate the Israeli occupation of Palestine."
On Wednesday, an Israeli judge ruled that "quiet" Jewish prayer should be allowed at the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.
