India: Brother helps Vikas rescue from crocodile's hold in canal water

Kanpur: Unaware of the crocodile into the canal water, how did a boy rescue himself from its hold? His brother's ready- mindedness worked at that critical time.

The incident was reported from the Madho Tanda area in the Pilibhit district.

Two boys namely Vikas and Neeraj, 16, were washing their hands at an irrigation canal after working on the farm on Friday.

Vikas suddenly felt a pull on his right leg. It was a crocodile that was dragging him towards the canal.

Vikas cried out in the open technique of his all possible attempt to resist the crocodile but it was in vain.

Meanwhile, thinking of an idea, Neeraj picked up a big stone and hurled it at the crocodile to detract it.

Luckily, his understanding over the tensed situation worked  exactly and the reptile slightly made its way into the canal water.

Vikas was soon rushed to a local community health centre. His condition was said to be stable.

Telling his ordeal Neeraj later told forest officials that he and his brother did not heed at the presence of the dangerous reptile that was basking in the sun near the irrigation canal.

Vikas ventured too near to the stable crocodile and was this attacked.

Gaurav Vishnoi, SHO Madthotanda police station, said, "The victim was not expecting the crocodile's presence in the canal which is why he was not cautious."
