16 Nov 2021; MEMO: The family of former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has formally requested an extension of the state-funded security protection, the Jerusalem Post reported yesterday.
Six months of state-funded security protection for Netanyahu, his wife and his two sons, which was approved by the cabinet for the six months after he left office, is due to come to an end next month.
However, the family claimed that it needed to be extended due to new threats they have received.
Representatives of Netanyahu's family, Walla reported, have appealed to the head of the Chief Security Officer in the Prime Minister's Office, Alon Haliva, to convene the Ministerial Committee in charge of the decision and to reconsider it.
Netanyahu is the first Israeli Prime Minister to ever have state funded bodyguards provided for his sons.
