Kanpur: What was expected by a young man turned out to be his headache after receiving the challan from traffic police here.
A youngster in Kanpur was issued a challan by the traffic police just after a video showing him grooving to a Bollywood song number on a motorcycle without wearing a helmet.
The youth's motive behind the dramatic act was to get more 'likes' and 'followers' on social media.
The youth in question has been identified as Khalid Ahmed, a resident of Maswanpur locality of Kanpur's Kalyanpur area.
Around a week ago, he shared a video wherein he could be seen swaying to Govinda-starrer song 'Ek ladki chahiye' on a motorcycle.
He had not put on a helmet. The clip went viral on social media platforms.
The traffic police sent a challan of Rs 9,000 to Khalid. A police officer, however, stated that it's an old matter.
"The challan of the man was issued on April 23, 2021, after the video went viral.
Several challans issued against the youth were pending, so the amount has escalated to Rs 9,000," said the traffic police inspector (Technical), Vinod Yadav.
The traffic police, in the challan sent to the youth, have imposed penalties under various sections.
These are Sections 129 and 194 (D) of the Central Motor Vehicle Rules, Section 121 of the UP Motor Vehicle Rules and Section 184 of the Motor Vehicle Act.
