MOSCOW, December 19. /TASS/: The number of the fatalities from COVID-19 in Russia surged by 1,023 in the last 24 hours versus 1,076 a day earlier to 297,203 deaths, the anti-coronavirus crisis center said on Sunday. This figure hit a record low since October 19, 2021.
The conditional mortality (the final one can be determined only after the end of the pandemic) stands at 2.91%, according to the crisis center.
In the last 24 hours, some 81 COVID-19 mortalities were registered in Moscow, 67 deaths were reported in St. Petersburg, 55 fatalities - in the Moscow Region, 37 deaths - in the Krasnoyarsk Region, some 36 deaths each were confirmed in the Voronezh and Volgograd Regions.
Russia’s COVID-19 cases surged by 27,967 in the past 24 hours to 10,214,790. In relative terms, the COVID-19 incidence increased by 0.27% of those infected.
In particular, over the past day, some 3,013 COVID-19 cases were registered in Moscow, as many as 1,955 cases were confirmed in St. Petersburg, 1,825 cases - in the Moscow Region, 765 cases of the infection - in the Krasnodar Region and 650 cases - in the Krasnoyarsk Region.
The number of so-called active cases, the patients who are receiving treatment, decreased to 932,666, the crisis center noted.
The number of the COVID-19 recoveries in Russia climbed by 32,655 in the last 24 hours to 8,984,921. Over the past day, the share of the patients discharged from hospitals increased to 88% of those infected.
In particular, over the past day, some 2,661 people recovered from COVID-19 in Moscow, as many as 1,841 recoveries were registered in the Moscow Region, some 1,027 - in the Voronezh region, 997 - in the Nizhny Novgorod Region, 951 - in the Omsk Region, some 920 - in St. Petersburg.
