JERUSALEM, Dec 25 (NNN-PNA) – Israel yesterday reported 186 new cases of the Omicron COVID-19 variant, according to the country’s Health Ministry.
This raised the total Omicron cases in Israel to 527, the ministry said.
It added that, 351 of all the infected are returning passengers from abroad.
The ministry also reported another 1,346 cases with high suspicion of infection with the variant, but the results of their genomic sequencing tests have yet to be obtained.
The ministry noted the increase in the number of Omicron cases in Israel is expected to continue to rise rapidly.
It called on the public to get vaccinated with the booster shot immediately, “before the fifth COVID-19 wave turns into a tsunami.”
