28 Dec 2021; MEMO: Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid said Israel supports reaching a "good agreement" over Iran's Iranian nuclear file which guarantees "real supervision" of Tehran's nuclear facilities.
"We are opposed to an agreement that does not have a possibility of real supervision over the Iranian nuclear program, over the Iranian money, and over the Iranian terrorist network," Lapid said on Monday during a meeting of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Security Committee.
Lapid added that Tel Aviv will not permit Iran to become a nuclear threshold state and will act alone, if necessary, to protect its security and citizens.
The Israeli top diplomat explained that Israel has presented a great deal of concrete intelligence to its allies that "proves that Iran is deceiving the world in a very systematic way."
The 8th round of talks on the Iranian nuclear file kicked off in the Austrian capital, Vienna, on Monday afternoon.
In this context, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said Monday that the negotiations' agenda will discuss guarantees of lifting US sanctions if the agreement is revitalised.
