PHNOM PENH, Oct 26 (NNN-AKP) – Cambodia and Singapore signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) yesterday, on clean energy cooperation, said a statement from Cambodia’s Ministry of Mines and Energy.
The deal was inked via video link, between Cambodian Minister for Mines and Energy, Suy Sem and Singapore’s Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Trade and Industry, Tan See Leng.
“The MoU is an important step to further develop the energy sector in both countries and in the region,” Suy Sem said.
Ministry of Mines and Energy spokesman and director-general for energy, Heng Kunleang, said, both countries are committed to doing their part to transition to cleaner sources of energy and reaching net-zero by or around mid-century.
“The MoU is beneficial and is a step towards realising the broader ASEAN Power Grid vision, to enhance interconnectivity, energy security and sustainability in the region,” he told reporters.
