Kanpur: The Cantonment Board elections will be held in 8 Wards on April 30 this year after a gap of eight long years. As many as. 53,426 voters in all the eight wards will vote at nine places.
Candidates will be able to file their nominations from March 22.
The Board's PRO Amit Yadav said that all preparations have started in this regard. Votes will be cast at the designated polling places on the scheduled date and time. All the information will be given to the contesting candidates in time.
The tenure of the Cantonment Board had ended on February-2020 itself. Being the Corona period, the Ministry of Defense had extended the tenure of the Cantonment Board for one year.
But the elections could not be held due to various reasons. Earlier, the Cantonment Board elections in Kanpur were held on 11 January 2015. After this, the tenure of the board has been extended 4 times by 6-6 months.
