20 Apr 2023; MEMO: The Higher Presidential Committee of Church Affairs in Palestine yesterday called on world churches to support Palestinian Christians.
In a letter, the head of the committee, Ramzi Khoury, raised an alert regarding the danger facing Palestinian Christians, urging world churches to help and support the Christian presence in Palestine.
Khoury, who is a member of the PLO's Executive Committee, highlighted the latest situation related to the Palestinian cause in general and the life of Christians in particular. He outlined the recent Israeli violations against Christians and their holy places during recent religious holidays, citing the attacks on worshippers during Palm Sunday and Holy Saturday.
He pointed out that the Israeli occupation attempted to change the course of the traditional march, as well as restricting the number of participants.
Khoury also highlighted the Israeli violations against Muslim worshippers during the month of fasting , Ramadan, when Israeli occupation forces raided Al-Aqsa Mosque and fired at Palestinians as they prayed within the mosque building.
Condemning Israel's violations, he urged world churches to move urgently and push governments to take serious measures against the Israeli occupation in order to stop the targeting of Christian and Muslim Palestinians and their holy sites.
