Pakistan invites England for three-match T20 series in Jan 2021

Karachi, Oct 16 (PTI) The Pakistan Cricket Board has invited England for a three-match T20 International series in January next year, PCB CEO Wasim Khan has revealed.

England has not played in Pakistan since the 2005-06 season when the team toured for a Test and one-day series.

India's Nihal Sarin wins Junior Speed Chess Championship

Chennai, Oct 10 (PTI) Young Indian player Nihal Sarin emerged winner in the Chess.com's 2020 Junior Speed Online Chess Championship, beating Russia's world junior No. 6 Alexey Sarana 18-7 in the final.

The title win earned the 16-year old Sarin USD 8,766 and enabled him to qualify for the 2020 Speed Chess Championship Final which will feature the world's best players.

04 Oct 2020; MEMO: Tunisia’s Ons Jabeur became the first Arab woman to reach the fourth round of the French Open as she beat eighth seed Aryna Sabalenka on Saturday, reports Reuters.

The 30th seed displayed her trademark court craft to undermine Sabalenka’s raw power as she surpassed her previous best third round showing at Roland Garros in 2017.

India: Around 80 injured in stone pelting ritual "Gotmar fight" amid Corona

Chhindwara (MP), Aug 19 (PTI) Despite restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic, the traditional `Gotmar mela' was held in Madhya Pradesh's Chhindwara district on Wednesday.

About 80 persons were injured in the annual event held in Pandhurna area, and a police vehicle was also damaged.

Gotmar is the annual fight between people of two villages where stones are hurled at opponents. The popular ritual is preceded by puja at a local temple.

India: Kohli static at 2nd spot, Bumrah slips to 9th in ICC Test player rankings

Dubai, Aug 18 (PTI) Skipper Virat Kohli remained at the second position in the batting chart which has two more Indians in the top 10, but pacer Jasprit Bumrah slipped to the ninth spot among bowlers in the latest ICC Test player rankings issued on Tuesday.

Kohli held on to second spot with 886 points, while Cheteshwar Pujara (766) and Ajinkya Rahane (726) continued to remain static at the eighth and 10th positions respectively in the batting list, which is being headed by Australia's Steve Smith.

Former Iraq Olympic football team goalkeeper found strangled

11 July 2020; MEMO: Iraqi police have found the body of the former goalkeeper of the Olympic football team, Karrar Ibrahim, strangled inside his car, Iraqi media announced on Thursday.

An Iraqi source disclosed that the security forces found Ibrahim’s body in his car in the Saadoun area, in the centre of the capital of Baghdad.
