Bolivian authorities say Morales will be arrested upon crossing border

BUENOS AIRES, December 21. /TASS/: Former Bolivian President Evo Morales will be immediately arested if he crosses the country's border, Justice Minister Alvaro Coimbra said on Friday.

"The arrest warrant for the ex-president has already been issued, and migration authorities across Bolivia have been notified, along with other relevant services. If citizen Evo Morales enters the country, he will be arrested," Coimbra told Agencia Boliviana de Informacion.

Bolivia’s Morales Defends Right To Remain Politically Active

BUENOS AIRES, Dec 18 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) – Bolivia’s former President, Evo Morales, said, he had a right to remain politically active, even though he will not compete as a presidential candidate, in upcoming elections in his country.

“What I want are free, sound and transparent elections. I am not going to be a candidate but I have a right to be involved in politics. As long as I am alive, I will remain politically active in service to, and as a sacrifice for, the poorest,” Morales said.

Suspect in 'dirty war' murder extradited to Argentina

17 December 2019; AFP: An Argentine ex-police officer linked to the murder of hundreds of people during the country's "dirty war" arrived in Buenos Aires on Monday, after France extradited him to face trial over the disappearance of a student.

Mario Sandoval was arrested Wednesday at his home near Paris, after French authorities gave the final go-ahead for his extradition, ending an eight-year legal battle.

Argentine gov't confirms arrival of Evo Morales

BUENOS AIRES, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- Bolivia's ex-President Evo Morales arrived in Argentina on Thursday and will remain in the country under "refugee" status, said the Argentine Foreign Affairs Minister Felipe Sola.

"He has just arrived, he has come to stay. He entered as an asylum seeker, but after entering, he will apply for refugee status," Sola told local news channel TN.

According to Sola, Morales "feels better here" in Argentina as it is closer to Bolivia, and his children have been in Argentina for three weeks.

Priests guilty of abusing deaf children at Argentine school

MENDOZA, Argentina (AP) — Two priests were found guilty on Monday of sexually abusing deaf children at a Catholic-run school in Argentina and sentenced to more than 40 years in prison, in a case that has shaken the church in Pope Francis’s homeland.

A three-judge panel in the city of Mendoza sentenced the Rev. Nicola Corradi to 42 years and the Rev. Horacio Corbacho to 45 years for abusing children at the Antonio Provolo Institute for Deaf and Hearing Impaired Children in Lujan de Cuyo, a municipality in northwestern Argentina.

23 people killed in Bolivia since political crisis began - human rights commission

BUENOS AIRES, November 17. /TASS/: At least 23 people have been killed, 715 more were injured in clashes since the beginning of the political crisis in Bolivia, the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights informed on Saturday.

"Since yesterday (Friday - TASS), 9 people have been killed and 122 have been injured in the wake of clashes with police and armed forces. In total, 23 people have been killed since the beginning of the political crisis, 715 have been injured," the commission informed on Twitter.

Protesters attack residence of Argentine ambassador in Chile — diplomat

BUENOS AIRES, November 13. /TASS/: Protesters threw stones at the residence of the Argentine ambassador in Chile's capital on Tuesday. Argentina's Ambassador to Chile Jose Octavio Bordon said that no one was injured in the incident.

"They have already been trying for half an hour to enter the territory of the residence, and they are throwing stones at the building," Bordon told the Clarin newspaper.

The ambassador said that protesters set on fire a restraurant near the diplomatic residence.
