AMSTERDAM, May 22 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Dutch police were on Saturday investigating a spate of stabbings in Amsterdam in which one person died and four were injured, but said there were no indications of terrorism.

A 29-year-old man was arrested at the scene after the attacks happened late on Friday in an area of bars and restaurants near the capital’s museum quarter, police said.

“The police is conducting an extensive investigation into the various incidents and the circumstances,” Amsterdam police said in a statement.

AMSTERDAM (AP) — A Dutch court on Thursday rejected fugitive auto executive Carlos Ghosn’s wrongful dismissal claim against an Amsterdam-based alliance between Nissan and Mitsubishi and ordered him to repay nearly 5 million euros ($6 million) salary he received in 2018.

Ghosn vowed to appeal.

The ruling came in a case in which Ghosn sought to have his 2018 sacking from Nissan-Mitsubishi B.V. overturned and demanded 15 million euros ($16.5 million) in compensation.

THE HAGUE, Netherlands (AP) — The International Criminal Court has sentenced a Ugandan former child soldier who turned into a brutal rebel commander to 25 years’ imprisonment, with judges saying that his own abduction as a schoolboy and history as a child soldier prevented him being sentenced to life.

AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - The global chemical weapons watchdog has “reasonable grounds to believe” that Syria’s air force dropped a chlorine bomb on a residential neighbourhood in the rebel-controlled Idlib region in February 2018, a report released on Monday said.

There was no immediate comment from the Syrian government. Syria and its military ally Russia have consistently denied using chemical weapons during President Bashar al-Assad’s decade-old conflict with rebel forces, saying any such attacks were staged by opponents to make Damascus look like the culprit.

AMSTERDAM, March 16 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Polls opened in the Netherlands on Monday for the country’s first-ever vote spread out over three days, a scheme designed to avoid crowding during the country’s ongoing lockdown.

Two days ahead of the formal – and final – day of voting on Wednesday, a number of polling stations opened to give ample voting time to an electorate of around 13 million during the pandemic.

Postal voting has also been allowed for the first time for citizens aged 70 and over living in the country.
