BEIRUT (AP) — The deaths stacked up: a policeman shot dead with a pistol equipped with a silencer, a local official gunned down, his son wounded, an Iraqi man beheaded. In total, 20 men and women were killed last month in the sprawling camp in northeastern Syria housing families of the Islamic State group.

BEIRUT, Feb. 16 (Xinhua) -- Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah expressed on Tuesday his strong rejection to attempts by some Lebanese political parties to seek international help to solve Lebanon's political deadlock, al-Manar local TV channel reported.

"Calling for international intervention under UN Charter VII is a call for war. It's unacceptable regardless of who said so," Nasrallah said in a televised speech.

BEIRUT (Reuters) - Lebanon started its COVID-19 vaccination drive on Sunday by inoculating the head of critical care at its biggest public hospital, followed by 93-year-old celebrated Lebanese actor and comedian Salah Tizani.

Battling a sharp spike in infections in recent weeks which has overwhelmed its healthcare system, Lebanon took delivery of 28,500 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine on Saturday, the first batch of 2.1 million doses set to arrive in stages throughout the year.

BEIRUT, Feb 9 (NNN-NNA) – Lebanese authorities, yesterday, started to ease the total lockdown measures in the country, for the fight against COVID-19, due to the economic and financial crisis.

Lebanese authorities adopted a strategy, aimed at opening the different sectors in the country, in four phases, to avoid big gatherings and a further increase in the number of infections, which have reached 319,917 so far, with 3,616 deaths from the virus.

BEIRUT (Reuters) - A prominent Lebanese Shi’ite publisher who criticized Iran-backed Hezbollah was found shot dead in a car in southern Lebanon on Thursday, two security sources and his family said.

A judge following the case said the body of Lokman Slim had four bullets in the head and one in the back, in the first such killing of a known activist in years.

One of the security sources also said Slim, who ran a research centre and made films, was shot in the head. The second said Slim’s phone was found earlier on the side of a road.

02 Feb 2021; MEMO: The Israeli army said on Monday that a drone crashed in Lebanon's territory, Anadolu Agency reported.

In a statement, the army's spokesman Avichay Adraee said: "A short while ago, an Israeli army drone fell inside Lebanese territory."

"The drone crashed during an operational activity on the border with Lebanon," he said.

BEIRUT (Reuters) - Lebanon’s Hezbollah said on Monday it brought down an Israeli drone that had entered Lebanese airspace, while the Israeli military said one of its drones had fallen inside Lebanon.

Hezbollah said in a statement carried by al-Manar television that it was now in control of the drone.

The Israeli military said the drone had fallen in Lebanese territory during an operation near the border demarcation known as the Blue Line and that there was, “no breach of information.”

BEIRUT (AP) — Joana Dagher lay unconscious and hemorrhaging under a pile of rubble in her apartment after the massive Beirut port blast in August, on the brink of death.

She survived because of the courage of her husband who got her out, the kindness of a stranger who transported her in his damaged car and the help of her sisters during the chaos at the overwhelmed hospital.
