30 April 2020; MEMO: The volume of electronic commerce (e-commerce) in Turkey has grown 39 per cent in 2019, according to a report published by Turkey’s Informatics Industry Association (TÜBİSAD) yesterday.

In the report, the association stressed the upward trend of the sector despite global trade wars and uncertainties in global political conjuncture.

29 April 2020; MEMO: Turkey hopes to restart its economy in late May after a sharp slowdown due to measures to contain the coronavirus outbreak, the spokesperson of the ruling AKP party Omer Celik said yesterday.

Meanwhile, the head of a group of Turkish malls announced the shopping centres are preparing to gradually reopen from 11 May, depending on demand from retailers and approval from the health advisory board.

ISTANBUL, Apr 29 (NNN-ANADOLU) – Turkey’s national flag carrier, Turkish Airlines (THY), announced on Tuesday, it extended the suspension of all its domestic and international flights until May 28, over COVID-19 concern.

THY said, in an announcement posted on its website, that, “all flights have been suspended until May 28, to protect public health against the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Bilal Eksi, CEO of the company, called on passengers to be “a little more patient, to win the fight against the virus,” on his Twitter account.

ISTANBUL, Apr 28 (NNN-ANADOLU) – Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared three days of lock-down in 31 provinces, starting from May 1, to curb the spread of COVID-19.

After attending a video cabinet meeting from Istanbul, Erdogan said, weekend curfews would continue until the end of Eid al-Fitr, a Muslim feast marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan, in late May.

Upon the official request of Greek authorities, Turkey evacuated three Greek citizens stranded in Djibouti along with Turkish citizens being flown out of the country as part of coronavirus measures, Anadolu reported.

According to Turkish officials, the sailors, ages 68, 71 and 77, thanked the Turkish government and the embassy.

The evacuation was carried out following an official request from the Greek authorities.

ISTANBUL, April 25 (Xinhua) -- The Turkish government has taken steps worth 200 billion Turkish liras (28.7 billion U.S. dollars) to protect the economy from COVID-19 impacts since its outbreak, Treasury and Finance Minister Berat Albayrak said on Saturday.

The government's stimulus package included tax postponement, short-time working allowance, minimum wage support, and other measures to preserve the commercial life, Albayrak said on his Twitter account.

CAIRO, Apr 25 (NNN-MENA) – The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Turkey increased to 104,912, while Iran’s cases reached 88,194 amid a continued slowdown.

Turkey, the new epicentre of the outbreak in the Middle East, on Friday confirmed 3,122 new COVID-19 cases. The death toll in the country surged to 2,600 after 109 more deaths were reported.

In addition, 21,737 patients have recovered so far, while 1,790 are being treated at intensive care units and 929 intubated.

ANKARA, April 24 (Xinhua) -- Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca on Friday confirmed 3,122 new COVID-19 cases and 109 more deaths in Turkey.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Turkey increased to 104,912 while the death toll surged to 2,600, Koca tweeted.

Turkey conducted 38,351 tests for the coronavirus in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of tests carried out to 830,252, he added.

24 April 2020; MEMO: Turkey has condemned Israel’s plan to annex the occupied West Bank, calling it “an extremely dangerous mindset aimed at extorting occupied Palestinian lands.” The spokesman of the Foreign Ministry in Ankara, Hami Aksoy, made his comment in a written statement issued today.

ANKARA, Apr 23 (NNN-ANADOLU) – Turkish Health Minister, Fahrettin Koca on Wednesday, confirmed 3,083 new COVID-19 cases and 117 more deaths in Turkey for the past 24 hours.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Turkey increased to 98,674, while the death toll surged to 2,376, Koca said.

Turkey conducted 37,535 tests for the virus in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of tests carried out to 750,944, he added.
