Ambassador Haque visits China Tourism Academy, discusses cooperation

BEIJING, Dec. 26 (APP): Pakistan Ambassador to China, Moin ul Haque visited China Tourism Academy (CTA) to discuss China-Pakistan tourism cooperation.

CTA President Dai Bin warmly welcomed Ambassador Haque and his delegation, and said that the Academy is willing to fully communicate with Pakistan on all topics related to tourism.

Covid-19: China hails its ‘extraordinary’ success curbing virus ahead of WHO probe

BEIJING, Dec 26 (NNN-AGENCIES) — China’s ruling Communist Party leaders have congratulated themselves on their “extremely extraordinary” success in handling the Covid-19 outbreak domestically, ahead of a World Health Organization probe into the disease’s origins.

China faced a barrage of criticism at home and abroad over its initial handling of the virus, which emerged in the central city of Wuhan last December.

Pakistan takes wise decision to promote production of new energy vehicles: Cheng Xizhong

BEIJING, Dec.25 (APP): Both China and Pakistan are big stakeholders of automobile production and consumption and it would be a positive decision for Pakistan to promote production of new energy vehicles.

China extends tariff exemptions for imports of some U.S. products for one year

BEIJING (Reuters) - China’s finance ministry said on Friday it will extend tariff exemptions for imports of 6 products from the United States including white oil and food-grade petroleum wax, for another year.

The extension, effective on Dec. 26, will last through Dec. 25, 2021, the ministry said.

China announced tariff exemptions on the 6 chemical and oil products from the U.S. in December last year, shortly after the two countries announced a Phase 1 trade deal.

China tests millions in port over virus cluster

Beijing, Dec 25 (AP-PTI) Authorities in China's northeastern port city of Dalian are testing millions of residents after seven new coronavirus cases were reported there in the last 24 hours.

The cluster that has emerged in recent days has grown to 12 cases. In five neighbourhood divisions, authorities have shut schools and public spaces and are restricting anyone but essential workers from leaving their residential compounds.

China, EU need to meet each other half way to conclude investment treaty: MOC

BEIJING, Dec. 24 (Xinhua) -- China and the European Union (EU) need to make joint efforts and meet each other half way to conclude a bilateral investment treaty, the Ministry of Commerce (MOC) said Thursday.

Committed to promoting high-level opening up, China will carry out the negotiations with the EU in the premise of upholding its security and development interests as well as at its own pace, and work to reach a comprehensive, balanced and high-level investment treaty, an MOC spokesperson said in an online response to press query about the two sides' progress in negotiation.

Pak-China centers jointly organize online int’l conference on global harmony

First Cargo Train From Turkey To China Reaches Xi’an

XI’AN, Dec 24 (NNN-XINHUA) – The first cargo train from Turkey to China, arrived in the north-western Chinese city of Xi’an. All goods completed customs clearance, according to local authorities.

The cargo train, loaded with 1,383 refrigerators for the home appliance manufacturer, BSH Hausgerate GmbH (BSH), travelled 8,693 km, after leaving Istanbul on Dec 4. The cargo is worth about 10.4 million yuan (about 1.59 million U.S. dollars), according to the Xi’an International Trade & Logistics Park.

HK court grants tycoon Jimmy Lai bail in national security, fraud case

HONG KONG (Reuters) - A Hong Kong court granted HK$10 million ($1.3 million) bail on Wednesday to media tycoon Jimmy Lai, the highest profile pro-democracy activist charged under the city’s new national security law on suspicion of colluding with foreign forces.

An immediate appeal by the prosecution was then denied on the same day.
