BEIJING, Sep 15 (APP): India’s current neighborhood policies, especially the ones concerning China and Pakistan, has plunged the country into an unfavorable situation.
Apart from disputes with China and Pakistan, India also has border disputes with other neighboring countries, such as Nepal.

The Indian army might boast that it is fully prepared for a two and a half front war-against China, Pakistan and the internal security threats – it’s as a matter of fact not capable of meeting such a challenge.

6.4-magnitude quake hits 13 km NW of Esso, Russia -- USGS

BEIJING, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.4 jolted 13 km NW of Esso, Russia at 0341 GMT on Tuesday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 329.73 km, was initially determined to be at 55.9569 degrees north latitude and 158.4936 degrees east longitude. 

China's industrial output growth accelerates amid economic recovery

BEIJING, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- China's economic recovery continued picking up steam last month, with major economic indicators further improving as the country's efforts to boost growth amid the COVID-19 slowdown gradually paid off.

Industrial output increased 5.6 percent year on year in August, accelerating from the rise of 4.8 percent registered in July, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

On a month-on-month basis, industrial output rose 1.02 percent in August, also quickening from July's 0.98-percent increase.

China warns US over US-Taiwan economic talks

Taipei, Sep 15 (AP/PTI) China warned the United States on Monday of potential serious damage to their relations if it does not withdraw from an upcoming economic meeting with Taiwan that is expected to be attended by a senior American official.

Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin urged the US at a daily briefing to "stop all forms of official exchanges with Taiwan, so as to avoid serious damage to China-US relations and peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait.

US issues sweeping new travel warning for China, Hong Kong

BEIJING (AP) — The U.S. on Tuesday issued a sweeping new advisory warning against travel to mainland China and Hong Kong, citing the risk of “arbitrary detention” and “arbitrary enforcement of local laws.”

The advisory is likely to heighten tensions between the sides that have spiked since Beijing’s imposition on Hong Kong of a strict new national security law in June that has already been met with a series of U.S. punitive actions.

Chinese military calls US biggest threat to world peace

Beijing, Sep 14 (AP/PTI) China's Defense Ministry on Sunday blasted a critical U.S. report on the country's military ambitions, saying it is the U.S. instead that poses the biggest threat to the international order and world peace.

The statement follows the September 2 release of the annual Defense Department report to Congress on Chinese military developments and goals that it said would have serious implications for U.S. national interests and the security of the international rules-based order.

Pompeo tweet indicates US ambassador to China is leaving

BEIJING (AP) — The U.S. ambassador to China appears to be leaving his post, based on tweets posted Monday by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

Pompeo thanked Ambassador Terry Branstad on Twitter for his more than three years of service. There was no immediate confirmation from the State Department.

“Ambassador Branstad has contributed to rebalancing U.S.-China relations so that it is results-oriented, reciprocal, and fair,” Pompeo wrote.

China’s Mars Probe Travels 137 Million Km

BEIJING, Sept 13 (NNN-XINHUA) – China’s Mars probe, Tianwen-1, has travelled 137 million km, said sources with the Lunar Exploration and Space Programme Centre of China National Space Administration.

As of 9.00 a.m. Friday, the probe was in stable condition, at a distance of more than 15.3 million km away from Earth, according to the centre.

The probe captured a photo of Earth and the moon in late July, and completed its first mid-course orbital correction in early Aug.

China calls Hong Kong people arrested at sea 'separatists'

BEIJING (Reuters) - The 12 Hong Kong people arrested at sea by mainland authorities last month were separatists, a spokeswoman for China’s foreign ministry said on Sunday, in response to her U.S. counterpart’s characterisation of the arrest as a deterioration of human rights.

The comment came a day after relatives of the detainees held a news conference in Hong Kong demanding the urgent return of the 12 who were intercepted by the Guangdong coast guard on Aug. 23 on a boat bound for Taiwan.
