India: Four Naxal terrorists surrender in C'garh

Sukma, Oct 9 (PTI) Four Naxals, including two women, surrendered in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh on Wednesday, police said.

The four ultras, of whom three were carrying cash rewards on their heads, turned themselves in before the police here citing disappointment with the Maoist ideology and violence committed by them, an official said.

Of the surrendered, the woman cadre, Madvi Gangi, who was active as the head of Dandakaranya Adivasi Kisaan Majdoor Sangthan (DAKMS), a frontal wing of Maoists, in Kerlapal area, was the most dreaded one, he said.

India: Security forces recover explosive device in Chhattisgarh

Sukma, Oct 5 (PTI) Security forces in Chhattisgarh on Saturday thwarted a possible naxal attack when they recovered a powerful improvised explosive device (IED) planted along a main road in Sukma district, police said.

A team of CRPF's 150th battalion and local police was out on a search operation when it unearthed the IED, weighing 5 kg, packed in a steel tiffin box, a senior official said.

The IED was buried close to a tree on the side of the road near Penta village in the Errabor police station area.

India: Savarkar was part of Gandhi's assassination plot: Baghel

Raipur, Oct 3 (PTI) Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Thursday said Hindutva ideologue Vinayak Damodar Savarkar was part of the conspiracy to assassinate Mahatma Gandhi.

The Congress leader said there was enough evidence to show that Gandhi's assassin Nathuram Godse was a disciple of Savarkar.

Baghel said the Father of the Nation advocated non- violence, Savarkar stood for violence.

India: Man killed by Naxal terrorists in C'garh

Sukma, Sep 28 (PTI) A man was killed allegedly by Naxals in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh, police said on Saturday.

As per the preliminary information, the victim, identified as Muchaki Linga, who worked as a 'shikshadoot' (education ambassador), was killed by suspected Naxals at his village Benpalli under Jagargunda police station area, Sukma Superintendent of Police Shalabh Sinha said.

India: Naxal terrorists blow up oil tanker in Chhattisgarh; three killed

Raipur, Sep 24; GANASHAKTI: Three people were killed when Naxals blew up an oil tanker with an improvised explosive device (IED) in Chhattisgarh's district on Tuesday, police said.

The incident took place around 10 am between Kosronda and Tumapal villages when the diesel-laden tanker was engaged in rail track laying work in Rowghat area, Inspector General of Police (Bastar range) Vivekanand Sinha told PTI.

The tanker had left from Tumapal camp of the Sashtra Seema Bal (SSB), to provide fuel to the construction vehicles engaged in Dallirajhra-Rowghat railway project work.

India: Villager hacked to death by Naxal terrorists in Dantewada

Raipur, Sep 20 (PTI) A villager was hacked to death allegedly by Naxals on suspicion he was a police informer in Chhattisgarhs Dantewada district, police said on Friday.

The body of Budhram Tati with his throat slit was found near Perpa village in the Kirandul police station area on Thursday evening, a senior police official said.

A Maoist leaflet recovered from the spot stated that "whoever works as a police informer for money will meet the same fate" in 'jan adalat' (Naxals kangaroo court), he said.

India: NRC to be introduced throughout country: Shah

Ranchi, Sep 18 (PTI) Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday asserted that the NRC will be introduced throughout India and all illegal immigrants will be thrown out of the country through legal means.

He also said that people of the country have given its stamp of approval for the nationwide-implementation of the National Register of Citizens through the verdict of the 2019 elections.

India: Man held for rape, extortion with help of his mother

Balodabazar, Sep 18 (PTI) A 19-year-old man from Chhattisgarh has been arrested for allegedly raping a 20-year-old woman and extorting Rs 8 lakh from her in the last two years with the help of his family members including mother who had filmed the act in 2017, police said on Wednesday.

While the accused and his mother were arrested on September 15 and his minor sister detained, police are now looking for the brother-in-law of the accused.

India: Three naxal terrorists killed in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district

Raipur, Sep 14 (PTI) Three naxals were gunned down in an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh's insurgency-hit Sukma district on Saturday evening, police said.

The gun-battle took place around 6 pm in a forest near Tadmetla-Mukram nullah under Chintalnar police station area when a team of police's District Reserve Guard was out on patrolling, Deputy Inspector General (anti-naxal operations) Sundarraj P told PTI.

On getting information that naxals had dug up a road near Tadmetla, security forces had launched the operation in the area, he said.

India: 4 Naxal terrorists arrested in Chhattisgarh's poll-bound Dantewada

Raipur, Sep 15 (PTI) Four Naxals were arrested on Sunday from separate places in poll-bound Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh, police said.

Two of them were held from within Farspal police station limits while the others were caught in Geedam and Katekalyan, an official said.

Dantewada Assembly bypoll is scheduled for September 23 and the arrests came while the District Reserve Guard and Danteshwari Fighters, an all-woman anti-Naxal police unit, were carrying out a joint patrol, Dantewada Superintendent of Police Abhishek Pallava told PTI.
