BUENOS AIRES, Nov 9 (NNN-Prensa Latina) — Hundreds of Argentine teachers are leading a strike, with protests in several cities, in solidarity with several colleagues repressed during a demonstration in the province of Chubut.

Both public and private schools were closed Friday, as from the early hours members of the Confederation of Education Workers (CTERA), one of the largest unions in the country, rallied in several areas.

Footage shown by 24 horas indicates that the whole building of the university is on fire. Firefighters are working on the scene. They say that the building was set on fire.

BUENOS AIRES, Sept 5 (NNN-TELESUR) — Thousands of protesters took to the streets of Buenos Aires Wednesday to demonstrate against the government of President Mauricio Macri’s reforms, demanding the Congress to pass a bill declaring a state of Food Emergency in order to address poverty and hunger growing across the country.

Protesters brandished banners slamming Macri’s economic austerity policies and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), heading towards the Congress and the Ministry of Social Development.

BUENOS AIRES, Aug 27 (NNN-XINHUA) — A federal court of Argentina on Monday rejected 51 requests to suspend or throw out charges of corruption against the country’s ex-president and current Senator Cristina Fernandez, and put her on trial, Xinhua news agency reported.

Fernandez and 12 others were accused of illicit enrichment in granting public works contracts.

“Postponing (the trial) delays justice without justification,” the court said in its ruling.

Monday’s hearing was the tenth in a legal process against the former head of state that began on May 21.

BUENOS AIRES, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) -- Argentine Finance Minister Nicolas Dujovne, who did not support the president's measures for dealing with the economic turmoil troubling the country, stepped down on Saturday.

In his resignation letter to President Mauricio Macri on Saturday, Dujovne said "under the present circumstances," the administration "needs a significant renewal in the economic area."
