Yerevan negotiating fixed gas prices for ten years with Gazprom, says regulator

YEREVAN, January 18. /TASS/: Armenia is negotiating mechanisms of fixed gas pricing for a ten-year period with Gazprom’s subsidiary Gazprom Armenia should the company announce an increase in the gas tariff, chairman of Armenia’s Public Services Regulatory Commission Garegin Baghramyan told reporters on Saturday.

"Today’s talks are aimed at fixing gas pricing mechanisms for a ten-year period if Gazprom Armenia submits an application on gas tariff change. That will, of course, be connected both with investments and the results of those investments," he said.

First batch of Russian-made Su-30SM fighters arrives in Armenia

YEREVAN, December 27. /TASS/: The first pair of Russian-made Su-30SM multirole fighters purchased by Armenia at the beginning of 2019 landed at an aerodrome in Southern Caucasus republic, Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced on his Facebook page on Friday.

"Our most important acquisition this year," Pashinyan noted, demonstrating the delivered aircraft to his subscribers.

The Armenian authorities announced in early 2019 that they had acquired four Su-30SM multirole fighters from Russia.

In reply to a question at a joint news conference with his Armenian counterpart Zograb Mnatsakanyan Lavrov said that he sometimes had no time to keep track of the zigzags of US policy.

Putin, Rouhani to discuss situation in Strait of Hormuz, Iran nuclear deal

YEREVAN, October 1. /TASS/: The presidents of Russia and Iran, Vladimir Putin and Hassan Rouhani, will meet in Yerevan on Tuesday to discuss the situation in the Strait of Hormuz and breaking the deadlock over the Iranian nuclear deal, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

"[The sides will discuss] tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and certainly the situation with the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action [on the Iranian nuclear problem]," Peskov said commenting on the talks’ agenda.

Armenian PM wins snap vote by landslide

10 Dec 2018; AFP: Armenia's acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has won a landslide victory in snap parliamentary elections, results showed Monday, cementing his authority months after sweeping to power in a peaceful revolution.

Pashinyan, a 43-year-old former journalist, has pledged to root out endemic corruption and address widespread poverty in the impoverished, landlocked ex-Soviet republic of three million people.

Armenia’s ex-President Kocharyan arrested and placed in detention facility

YEREVAN, December 7. /TASS/. Armenia’s former President Robert Kocharyan has been placed under arrest and is kept at a pre-trial facility in the building of Armenia’s National Security Service in Yerevan, the service's head Artur Vanetsyan said on Friday.

"Robert Kocharyan was arrested under a court ruling. As far as I know, he is being kept at the Yerevan-Center penitentiary," Vanetsyan said.
