Cambodian FM To Attend ASEAN FM Meeting In Indonesia

PHNOM PENH, Jul 8 (NNN-AKP) – Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Prak Sokhonn, will attend the 56th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (AMM) and related meetings, in Jakarta, from Jul 11 to 14, the country’s foreign ministry said, in a press statement yesterday.

His attendance will be made at the invitation of Indonesian Foreign Minister, Retno Marsudi, the statement said.

Cambodia launches online child protection guidelines

PHNOM PENH, July 6 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia on Thursday launched guidelines on online child protection to ensure a safe and positive online experience for all children.

Undertaken by the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications, with support from the Global Partnership to End Violence Against Children and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), the guidelines aim to encourage industries within the sector to prevent and respond to current and emerging harms posed by the use of technology in a timely manner.

Cambodia expels Facebook representative from country: PM

PHNOM PENH, July 1 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia decided to expel the representative of Facebook from the Southeast Asian country, Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen said late on Friday.

"I have no intention to block Facebook access in Cambodia, but will not allow Facebook to have its representative in Cambodia anymore," he said in a voice message released publicly.

Hun Sen accused Facebook of bias and turning a blind eye to "insulting" remarks made by exiled political opponents against Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni, Hun Sen himself and his family members.

Cambodian PM Urges Vigilance Over Rise In New HIV Infections

PHNOM PENH, Jun 24 (NNN-AKP) – Cambodian Prime Minister, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, today called for people to be vigilant over a significant rise in new HIV infections, last year.

“1,400 people became newly infected with HIV in 2022, about 300 higher than those infected in 2021,” he said, during a meeting with thousands of factory workers in Phnom Penh.

The new infections were mostly detected among men having sex with men, he said, urging people having many sexual partners to use condoms, in order to prevent HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases.

UNICEF Donated Seven Million USD Medical Equipment For Oxygen Therapy To Cambodia

PHNOM PENH, Jun 12 (NNN-AKP) – The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Cambodia, today, donated seven million U.S. dollars’ worth of medical equipment for oxygen therapy to Cambodia, officials said.

The handover ceremony was held in Phnom Penh, between Will Parks, UNICEF representative in Cambodia, and Youk Sambath, secretary of state for Cambodia’s Ministry of Health.

Cambodia's economy projected to grow by 5.6 pct this year: PM

TAKEO, Cambodia, June 11 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen said here Sunday that the country's economy is expected to achieve a 5.6 percent growth rate in 2023, up from 5.2 percent in 2022.

Peace, together with the successful control of the COVID-19 pandemic, has laid a strong foundation for the Southeast Asian country to recover its economy from the pandemic, he said.

Cambodian PM hails China's BRI as key role in development of Cambodia, ASEAN

KANDAL, Cambodia, June 7 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen said on Wednesday that China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) has played a crucial role in the development of Cambodia and other member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) over the past decade.

"Cambodia is one of the countries that has benefited from China's Belt and Road Initiative," Hun Sen said in a speech during the groundbreaking ceremony for Phnom Penh-Bavet Expressway, the kingdom's second Chinese-invested expressway.

Cambodia Donated 300,000 USD To Cyclone-Hit Myanmar

PHNOM PENH, Jun 2 (NNN-AKP) – Cambodia, today donated a humanitarian aid of 300,000 U.S. dollars, to cyclone-hit Myanmar, said a foreign ministry’s press statement.

The statement said, the humanitarian package would support Myanmar’s ongoing efforts to alleviate the impact of Cyclone Mocha, which tragically resulted in the loss of hundreds of lives and extensive damage to properties and infrastructure in Myanmar’s Rakhine State.
