India: Nine Naxal terrorists surrender in Chhattisgarh

Raipur, May 21 (PTI) Nine Naxals, three of them carrying cash rewards on their heads, surrendered Tuesday in Chhattisgarh, police said.

Seven of them surrendered in Bijapur district while two surrendered in Sukma district. Both districts fall in the insurgency-hit Bastar division.

Laxman Vanjami (29), Neelkanth Ranjit (26), Gudsa Vacham (29), Raju Ram Vacham (30), Laysu Vacham (25), Manga Diwa (18) and Chinna Majji (19) turned themselves in before Bijpaur police.

India: C'garh BJP leader held for molestation

Raipur, May 19 (PTI) A BJP leader was Sunday arrested for allegedly molesting a 34-year-old woman here, police said.

Prakash Bajaj (42) was arrested on charges of molestation following a complaint lodged by the woman at Civil Lines police station here, an official said.

Bajaj is a member of the state working committee of the BJP.

India: Naxal terrorist woman with Rs 5 lakh bounty held in C'garh

Dantewada, May 18 (PTI) A 26-year-old naxal, carrying Rs five lakh reward for her alleged involvement in various violent incidents, Saturday surrendered in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district, police said.

The cadre, Nande Mandavi alias Lali, is a member of the Kerlapal Area Committee of Maoists, said Dantewada SP Abhishek Pallava.

Police had input that she would be visiting Dantewada district hospital for treatment and proceeded to arrest her, he said.

India: Cyclone Fani: Chhattisgarh offers Odisha Rs 11 cr

Raipur, May 5 (PTI) Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel Sunday announced a financial aid of Rs 11 crore to Odisha following cyclonic storm Fani to help the state carry out restoration work.

'Fani' barrelled through Odisha on Friday, unleashing heavy rain and winds of up to 175 kmph, killing at least 29 people, blowing away thatched houses and swamping towns and villages.

A Chhattisgarh government statement said Baghel had spoken to Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik and assured him of all support.

India: Six Naxal terrorists arrested in Chhattisgarh

Sukma, May 1 (PTI) Six Naxals, four of them carrying rewards on their heads, were arrested Wednesday in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district, police said.

They were held near Kindrelpad village under Konta police station limits when a team of district police force was out on a search operation, an official said.

The team had launched the operation from Konta and was proceeding towards interior forests. Near Kindrelapad, 500 km from Raipur, they spotted a group of suspected Naxals.

India: Six Naxal terrorists held in Chhattisgarh

Dantewada, Apr 29 (PTI) Six naxals, including a woman, were arrested Monday from two places in Chhattigsarh's Dantewada district, police said.

Of them, three ultras who were allegedly involved in the October 2018 Nilawaya attack in which three policemen and a Doordarshan cameraman were killed in Dantewada, were apprehended from Nilawaya area under Aranpur police station limits, said Dantewada Superintendent of Police Abhishek Pallava.

India: Woman Naxal terrorist carrying Rs 5 lakh bounty held

Dantewada, Apr 30 (PTI) A naxal, who was carrying a reward of Rs 5 lakh on her head for her alleged involvement in launching attacks on security forces and killing villagers, was arrested Tuesday in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district, police said.

The ultra, identified as Kosi alias Mangli, is a member of the Malangir area committee of Maoists, a police official said.

India: Five held for gang-raping girl in Chhattisgarh

Raigarh, Apr 20 (PTI) Five men have been arrested for allegedly gang-raping a 15-year-old girl at her house in Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh, police said Saturday.

The incident took place on Wednesday night in a village under Gharghoda police station area when the victim was alone at her house, Raigarh Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar Arawal said Saturday.

India: Naxal terrrist killed, STF jawan injured

Raipur, Apr 11 (PTI) A Naxal was killed and a Special Task Force (STF) jawan suffered injuries in a gun-battle in Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh on the day of polling for the Bastar Lok Sabha constituency on Thursday, police said.

The encounter took place at around 4:20 pm when the ultras attacked a team of security forces out on an area domination-cum-search operation in a forest near a helipad in the Orchha area, Deputy Inspector General (Anti-Naxal Operation) Sundarraj P told PTI.
