India, Egypt agree to elevate bilateral relations, boost trade

25 Jan 2023; MEMO: Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, and visiting Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, on Wednesday discussed bilateral relations and agreed to boost trade, Anadolu News Agency reports.

Addressing a press conference after a meeting in the capital, New Delhi, Modi said they have decided to take the bilateral trade between India and Egypt to $12 billion in the next 5 years.

Egypt Sisi heads to India as 'Chief Guest' for Republic Day

24 Jan 2023; MEMO: Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, will arrive in New Delhi today where he will be a Chief Guest at India's 74th Republic Day celebrations, following an invitation extended to him by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. Man posing as UAE Royal aide leaves India hotel with nearly $30k unpaid bill

18 Jan 2023; MEMO: A man is wanted by Indian police after posing as a UAE resident and staffer of the Royal family of Abu Dhabi and leaving a five-star hotel in Delhi without settling outstanding bills amounting to $28,330 (23 lakh rupees). According to reports, the accused identified as Mahamed Sharif also made off with silverware and a mother-of-pearl tray from the hotel room at the Leela Palace Hotel, where he had been staying for over four months.

India: Woman dragged under car for 12 km in Delhi

New Delhi, Jan 2 (PTI) The 20-year-old woman, killed in the early hours of New Year after her scooter was hit by a car, was dragged for 12 kilometres under the vehicle on the city's roads, police said and added culpable homicide among other stringent sections on Monday in the case following protests over alleged "shoddy investigation".

Police said that the victim's body was found naked on roadside in Kanjhawala area in outer Delhi and a medical board conducted a post-mortem on Monday, which will establish if she was sexually assaulted by the accused.

Phuket-bound IndiGo plane returns to Delhi due to hydraulic system failure

New Delhi, Jan 3 (PTI) An IndiGo plane enroute to Phuket suffered a hydraulic system problem and returned to Delhi airport on Tuesday morning, according to officials.

The A320 neo plane, which left for Phuket in Thailand at around 6.25 am, returned to the airport here at about 7.20 am due to hydraulic failure, airport sources said. The sources said the aircraft landed safely at Delhi airport.

Adani takes control of NDTV, buys promoters' stake at 17 pc premium to open offer price, Roys resign

New Delhi, Dec 30 (PTI) Adani group on Friday gained full control of news broadcaster NDTV after it acquired most of the stake of founders, Prannoy Roy and Radhika Roy, at a premium of almost 17 per cent over the rate it paid to minority shareholders of the firm.

The Adani Group now holds 64.71 per cent of New Delhi Television Ltd (NDTV), according to a regulatory filing.

Indian SC dismisses Bilkis Bano's plea for reviewing order asking Gujarat to examine rapists' remission application

New Delhi, Dec 17 (PTI) The Supreme Court has dismissed a plea filed by Bilkis Bano seeking a review of its May 13 verdict by which it had said the state of Gujarat was the "appropriate government" competent to examine the application for the pre-mature release filed by a convict in the gang-rape and murder case.

Bano's separate petition challenging the remission of the sentences of the 11 convicts by the state government is pending before the Supreme Court. She was gang-raped and seven members of her family were killed during the 2002 Gujarat riots.
