India: 4 injured in Naxal terror attack in Jharkhand

Latehar, Dec 19 (PTI) A group of Naxalites raided a coal mining project in Jharkhand's Latehar district and opened indiscriminate firing in which four persons were injured, police said on Saturday.

The Naxalites went to the Tetariakhar coal project under the jurisdiction of Balumath police station in the district on Friday night and opened fire, they said.

The Naxalites also set four trucks on fire, the police said.

India: Doctors in Jharkhand join IMA's protest call

Ranchi, Dec 11 (PTI) Scores of doctors in Jharkhand joined the protest call of the IMA on Friday against the Centre's move allowing post-graduate practitioners of Ayurveda to be trained to perform surgical procedures.

The Indian Medical Association (IMA) had given the nationwide call for withdrawal of non-essential and non-COVID services on Friday in protest against the notification by the Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM), stating that it will lead to "mixopathy" and demanding withdrawal of the notification.

India: 4 PLFI militants arrested in Jharkhand

Simdega, Dec 12 (PTI) Four militants of the banned People's Liberation Front of India (PLFI) were arrested in two separate operations in Jharkhand's Simedga and Lohardaga districts, police said on Saturday.

Three militants were arrested in Simdega district in a raid in Kanarwa forest in the Bano police station area.

India: Two miners missing in flooded underground mine

Dhanbad(Jharkhand), Dec 9 (PTI) Two miners are missing in Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) Khudiya Kadan mine in Mugma area of the district after water flooded the underground mine, officials said on Wednesday.

The official said four miners were engaged in dewatering the mine on Tuesday. Pump operator Basiya Manjhi (56)and his assistant Manik Bauri (52) were found missing when all of a sudden water flooded the seam of the underground mine at around 4 am.

India: Security forces recover 9 landmines in Jharkhand's Latehar

Medininagar Dec 8 (PTI) A joint team of police and CRPF recovered nine landmines planted by Maoists in Jharkhand's Latehar district, an officer said on Tuesday.

The security forces during a search operation on Monday detected wires on the Medininagar-Ranchi road near Dumuhan, about 40 km from here, the officer said.

India: Naxal terrorist with Rs 5 lakh bounty arrested in Jharkhand

Chatra/Lohargada, Nov 17 (PTI) A Naxal belonging to the proscribed Tritiya Sammelan Prastuti Committee (TSPC) outfit, carrying a reward of Rs 5 lakh on his head, was arrested in Jharkhand's Chatra district on Tuesday, police said.

Acting on a tip-off, police personnel arrested the outfit's self-styled 'zonal commander' Krishna Ganju near Bhangiya river in Pratappur police station area, Superintendent of Police Rishabh Kumar Jha told PTI.

A .315 bore rifle, a country-made gun and several cartridges were seized from his possession, the officer said.

India: 4 Naxal terrorists arrested, arms and ammunition seized in Jharkhand

Simdega (Jharkhand), Nov 2 (PTI) Four Naxals belonging to the banned People's Liberation Front of India (PLFI) outfit have been arrested in Jharkhand's Simdega district and arms and ammunition seized from their possession, police said on Monday.

Acting on a tip-off, police personnel conducted a search operation in Kanarowan forest in Bano police station area on Sunday and arrested the four Naxals, Superintendent of Police Shams Tabrez said.

On seeing the policemen, the Naxals attempted to flee but the personnel chased and nabbed them, the officer said.

India: Naxal terrorists set loader and dumpers on fire in Chatra district

Chatra (Jharkhand), Oct 16 (PTI) Armed Naxalites set a loader and two dumpers on fire at Bachra railway siding of Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) in the district, police said on Friday.

Tandwa Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Ashutosh Satyam said around 15 Naxalites entered the Bachra railway sliding on Thursday night and to scare away the workers engaged in coal loading fired in the air.

The workers fled the spot in fear after which the Naxalites set a loader and two dumpers on fire, the police said.

India: Girl gang-raped at gunpoint in add add Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, Oct 10 (PTI) Five persons were apprehended in connection with the gang-rape of a 17-year-old girl in Jharkhand's Jamshedpur, police said on Saturday.

The girl was out with her boyfriend in the Bagbera area late on Tuesday when the accused arrived at the spot and forcibly took her to Kaliadih Gaushala at gunpoint, Senior Superintendent of Police Tamil Vanan said.

She was raped there while the boyfriend was tied up, he said.

India: Man in J'khand gets life term for killing wife over dowry

Ramgarh (Jharkhand), Oct 1 (PTI) A court in Ramgarh sentenced a man to life imprisonment after he was convicted of killing his wife for dowry two years ago.

SK Shukla, the additional public prosecutor, said the court on Wednesday awarded life term to 27-year-old Naresh Mahto, who had in February 2018 poisoned his 21-year-old wife Dayamani Devi, after she failed to pay him a dowry of Rs 50,000.

The woman's father filed a police complaint, following which Mahato was arrested.
