AMMAN, Mar 22 (NNN-PETRA) – The unemployment rate in Jordan rose by 0.1 percent to 23.3 percent, in the fourth quarter of 2021, compared with the third quarter of the same year.

The male unemployment rate is 21.4 percent, and the rate for women is 30.7 percent, the state-run news agency reported, citing the report revealed by the Jordanian Department of Statistics.

Moreover, the unemployment rate among university degree holders has risen to 27.2 percent, said the report.

AMMAN/BEIRUT, March 20 (Reuters) - Some Syrian paramilitary fighters say they are ready to deploy to Ukraine to fight in support of their ally Russia but have not yet received instructions to go, two of their commanders told Reuters.

Nabil Abdallah, a commander in the paramilitary National Defence Forces (NDF), said he was ready to use expertise in urban combat gained during the Syrian war to aid Russia, speaking to Reuters by phone from the Syrian town of Suqaylabiyah.

10 March 2022; MEMO: Jordan's King Abdullah hosted Israeli Foreign Minister, Yair Lapid, for talks on Thursday about coordinating ways of securing calm in Jerusalem, a frequent flashpoint of Palestinian protests, Israel's Foreign Ministry said and Reuters reports.

The visit came "ahead of the (Muslim fast month) of Ramadan and in light of reports of growing tension in Jerusalem", the Ministry said in a statement.

01 March 2022; MEMO:The Centre for Defending Freedom of Journalists (CDFJ) said yesterday that 77.3 per cent of Jordanian journalists were summoned by security agencies in 2021, Arabi21 reported.

In a report released yesterday the CDFJ also found that 83 per cent of the Jordanian journalists believe that the government rarely investigates violations committed against them.

AMMAN, Feb 21 (NNN-PETRA) – Jordan’s State Minister for Media Affairs, Faisal Shboul, said yesterday, 897 cyberattacks against the country were recorded in 2021, and all of them were thwarted.

The attacks targeted several establishments, including the Royal Hashemite Court, the official body that oversees the preparation and implementation of the Jordanian King’s local and international activities, Shboul said, in a press conference.

14 Feb 2022; MEMO: Jordan, on Monday, decried the Israeli aggression in the Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood in occupied East Jerusalem, calling it a breach of international laws, Anadolu News Agency reports.

"The eviction and deportation orders against the residents of Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood in occupied East Jerusalem are a violation of international and humanitarian laws," Haitham Abu Al-Foul, spokesperson for the Jordanian Foreign Ministry, said in a statement.
