Arab Conference On Sustainable Development Kicks Off In Oman

SALALAH, Oman, Aug 20 (NNN-ONA) – The Arab Conference on Sustainable Cities, kicked off on Monday in Salalah, Oman, aiming to discuss sustainable urban planning strategies and the role of real estate developers in sustainable development.

The two-day conference would review several topics, including sustainable urban development, smart cities, urban planning and design standards, smart partnerships for real estate developers, and local, regional and global models of urban development.

Oman to open embassy in West Bank

26 June 2019; MEMO: Oman announced today that it will open an embassy in the occupied West Bank.

In a tweet, Oman’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote: “In continuation of the Sultanate’s support for the Palestinian people, the Sultanate has decided to open a new diplomatic mission to the State of Palestine at the level of an embassy.”

The ministry also said that a delegation “will travel to Ramallah to initiate the opening of the embassy,” without providing further details or a timescale.

Royal pardon to 17 Indians serving sentences in Oman

New Delhi, Jun 12 (PTI) Oman's Sultan Qaboos has granted "royal pardon" on the occasion of Eid to 17 Indians serving sentences in that country.

"We appreciate this merciful gesture on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos of Oman," External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar tweeted.

Indian Embassy in Oman said "royal pardon" has been given to 17 Indian nationals serving sentences in Oman by Sultan Qaboos on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.

Indo-Oman joint military exercise

Jammu, Mar 13 (PTI) A joint military exercise between India and Royal Army of Oman commenced on Wednesday at Jabel regiment headquarters, Nizwa, in the Arab country, a defence spokesman said.

A 60-member strong Indian Army contingent, based in northern command headquarters at Udhampur in Jammu and Kashmir, is taking part in the military exercise 'Al-Nagah III', he said.
