9 killed, 10 injured in SW Pakistan's suicide attack

ISLAMABAD, March 6 (Xinhua) -- Nine security personnel were killed and 10 others injured when a suicide bomber hit their vehicle in Pakistan's southwest Balochistan province on Monday, officials said.

The incident happened in Bolan district where the bomber rammed his explosive-laden motorbike into the truck of paramilitary troops Balochistan Constabulary at the border area with Sibi district, District Police Officer of Sibi Yousuf Karim Bhanghar confirmed in talks with Xinhua.

Pakistan bans media broadcasts of ex-PM Imran Khan speeches

ISLAMABAD (AP) — Pakistan’s media regulator banned broadcasts of former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s speeches as police arrived at one of his homes to deliver another court summons for the ousted premier, officials said Monday.

The development is the latest in a political tug of war between the former cricket star turned Islamist politician and the government of his successor, Shahbaz Sharif, as Khan campaigns for early elections.

7 killed, 23 injured in road accidents in Pakistan in 24 hours

ISLAMABAD, March 5 (Xinhua) -- At least seven people were killed and 23 others injured in two separate road accidents in Pakistan in the last 24 hours, the rescue service reported.

At least four people were killed on Saturday evening when a truck collided with a container truck in Zhob district of Pakistan's southwest Balochistan province, the rescue service told media.

Taliban: 2 senior IS members killed in Afghanistan: Pakistan

ISLAMABAD (AP) — Two senior regional members of the Islamic State group have been killed in Afghanistan in recent weeks in separate operations by the Taliban security forces, a Taliban spokesman said Tuesday.

Taliban forces killed Qari Fateh, the regional IS intelligence and operations chief, during a raid in Kabul over the weekend, Zabihullah Mujahid, the main spokesman for the Taliban government, said in a statement.

Earlier this month in a separate operation in Kabul, three IS members — including senior IS leader Ijaz Amin Ahingar — were killed.

Pakistan: Retired Army general arrested on charges of inciting public against national institutions

Islamabad, Feb 27 (PTI) A high-ranking retired Pakistan Army general was arrested early Monday morning on charges of inciting the public against national institutions.

Lt General (retd.) Amjad Shoaib, a prominent supporter of former prime minister Imran Khan, was detained by the Islamabad police from his residence in the federal capital after a first information report (FIR) was registered against him at the Ramna police station on Sunday by Magistrate Owais Khan.

ISLAMABAD (AP) — Pakistani police arrested Monday a retired army general and prominent supporter of former Prime Minister Imran Khan on charges of inciting the public and government employees against national institutions, officials said.

The charge against retired Gen. Amjad Shoaib, which carries a seven-year sentence, came after he appeared on Pakistani BOL news channel on Saturday criticizing authorities for keeping Khan’s supporters jailed, especially in remote areas of the country.

Official: Taliban forces kill 2 IS members in Kabul raid: Pakistan

ISLAMABAD (AP) — Taliban security forces killed two militants from the Islamic State group and detained a third in an overnight raid in the Afghan capital of Kabul, the spokesman for the Taliban government said Monday.

The regional affiliate of the Islamic State group — known as the Islamic State in Khorasan Province — is a key rival of the Taliban. The militant group has increased its attacks in Afghanistan since the Taliban takeover of the country in August 2021. Targets have included Taliban patrols and members of Afghanistan’s Shiite minority.

Four Killed, 10 Wounded In SW Pakistan Blast

ISLAMABAD, Feb 26 (NNN-APP) – At least four people were killed and 10 others wounded today, in a bomb blast in Pakistan’s south-west Balochistan province, the police said.

According to the police, the blast took place in the Rukni Bazaar, a busy market in the Barkhan district of the province. An explosive device planted in a motorcycle was detonated with a remote-controlled device.

Police, security forces and rescue teams rushed to the site and shifted the bodies and the injured to a nearby hospital. The area has been cordoned off by the police.
