Jerusalem's holy sites and West Bank carpeted in rare snow

27 Jan 2022; MEMO: A rare heavy snowfall covered Jerusalem and hilly areas in the occupied West Bank overnight into Thursday, shutting down roads and schools, Reuters reports.

Worshippers had to trudge through inches of snow to reach the holy sites in Jerusalem's walled Old City, including the snow-capped Dome of the Rock.

Heavy snow is rare in the city, so children went out into the streets to watch the flakes falling and hurl snowballs at each other.

Palestinian PM Warns Of Israeli Settlers’ Escalating Actions In West Bank

RAMALLAH, Jan 25 (NNN-WAFA) – Palestinian Prime Minister, Mohammed Ishtaye, yesterday warned of Israeli settlers’ escalating actions, against the Palestinians and their properties, in the West Bank.

During the weekly cabinet meeting, held in Tubas district near the Jordan Valley in eastern West Bank, the prime minister told the cabinet members that, the Palestinian government condemns the seizure of Palestinian farms by hundreds of Israeli settlers in the northern West Bank, and their act of putting signs on the roads prohibiting farmers from reaching their lands.

Polls' postponement deepens crisis in Palestinian political system

26 Jan 2022; MEMO: On 26 January, 2006, Hamas was officially declared the winner of Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) elections, with more than 60 per cent of the vote, Anadolu News Agency reports.

One year later, a political crisis between Hamas and Fatah led to a political division between them. As a result, the PLC was disabled and the elections were never held since then.

The option comes in light of the continued pressure from the international community and the International Criminal Court's (ICC) warning that the eviction and displacement of the Palestinian residents amounts to a war crime, reported Channel 12.

Israel prevents urgent medical equipment entering Gaza

24 Jan 2022; MEMO: Israeli occupation authorities have prevented medical equipment and spare parts from entering the besieged Gaza Strip, the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza said yesterday.

Speaking at a press conference held near to Erez crossing, north of Gaza, Director of the Medical Imaging Unit at the Ministry of Health, Ibrahim Abbas, said: "The Israeli occupation prevents Palestinians from accessing proper treatment inside and outside Gaza."

Israeli minister slams settler violence as 'terrorism'

23 Jan 2022; MEMO: Israeli Public Security Minister Omer Barlev on Sunday described settler attacks against Palestinians as "actions of a terror organisation", Anadolu Agency reported.

Barlev was referring to settler assaults on Friday against activists near the Burin village in the occupied West Bank, where 10 activists were injured, including four Israelis.

Qatar Signs Agreement On Supplying Natural Gas To Gaza’s Only Power Plant

GAZA, Jan 22 (NNN-QNA) – Qatar signed an agreement to guarantee the supply of natural gas for operating the only power plant in the Gaza Strip, Qatari Ambassador to Palestine, Mohammed al-Emadi told reporters here yesterday.

Al-Emadi said that, he signed the agreement with the Gaza Electricity Generation Company and the Gaza Electricity Distribution Company.

Israel settlers uproot hundreds of Palestinian's olive trees in West Bank

22 Jan 2022; MEMO: Israeli settlers have uprooted 400 olive trees in the Palestinian occupied West Bank village of Deir Sharaf on Friday, witnesses have said.

One of the witnesses, Ghassan Daghlas, monitors Israeli colonial settlement violations in the northern West Bank and explained that the settlers broke into a plot of land known as Al-Harayek and chopped down the trees.
