Fiercest fighting in years erupts in West Bank camp of Jenin, at least 5 Palestinians killed

JENIN REFUGEE CAMP, West Bank (AP) — Israeli military forces raided a refugee camp in the northern West Bank on Monday, igniting the fiercest day of fighting in years as Palestinian militants detonated roadside bombs and Israeli helicopter gunships struck Palestinian gunmen to rescue troops trapped in the hourslong firefight.

At least five Palestinians were killed, including a 15-year-old boy, and over 90 others were wounded, Palestinian health officials said. Seven Israeli soldiers were also wounded, the army said.

Israel gives nod to Gaza Marine gas development

18 June 2023; MEMO: Israel gave preliminary approval for the development of a gas field off the Gaza Strip on Sunday while saying it would require security coordination with the Palestinian Authority and neighbouring Egypt, reports Reuters.

If concluded, the agreement would be a boost for the cash-strapped Palestinian economy.

Israel to demolish Palestinian primary school in West Bank

19 June 2023; MEMO: An Israeli court yesterday ruled that the Umm Qassah mixed primary school in the occupied West Bank city of Hebron must be demolished within a week.

The school's principal, Youssef Al-Basaita, told Palestinian media that Israeli authorities had notified him of the demolition last year, adding that they had prevented the school from adding new classrooms.

Palestinian PM Called For Immediate Int’l Action To Protect Two-State Solution

RAMALLAH, Jun 15 (NNN-WAFA) – Palestinian Prime Minister, Mohammed Ishtaye, yesterday called for immediate international action, to protect the two-state solution from “Israel’s sabotage.”

He made the remarks at a meeting with European Union Special Representative for the Middle East Peace Process, Sven Koopmans, in the West Bank city of Ramallah, according to a statement by the prime minister’s office.

Palestinian Prez Abbas begins state visit to China

13 June 2023; MEMO: Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas began a four-day state visit to China on Tuesday. This is his fifth official trip to the country, said the spokeswoman for the Foreign Ministry in Beijing.

Abbas is in China at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, explained Hua Chunying. He is the first Arab state leader to be hosted by Xi this year, as China and Palestine mark 35 years of diplomatic relations. Beijing has described Abbas as "an old and good friend of the Chinese people."

Palestinians Injured During Clashes With Israeli Soldiers In West Bank: Medics

RAMALLAH, Jun 8 (NNN-WAFA) – At least six Palestinians were injured last night, during clashes with Israeli soldiers in the West Bank city of Ramallah, the Palestinian Ministry of Health said.

The ministry said that, among the six, two were injured, after being shot by live ammunition and the others were injured by rubber bullets.

Palestinian security sources and eyewitnesses said that, dozens of Israeli military jeeps and armoured vehicles stormed several neighbourhoods in the city of Ramallah, and located snipers on the roofs of several buildings.

Israeli occupation forces detains PA police officer

The Israeli occupation forces have detained a Palestinian Authority police officer over an alleged plan to assassinate an illegal settler leader in the occupied West Bank, local media have reported.

The police officer was named as Alaa Khaled Qatto. He was detained during an overnight incursion by the Israeli occupation forces in the Palestine refugee camp in Tulkarm in the occupied West Bank.

Gaza's first fish farms begin first harvest

06 June 2023; MEMO: The first bream fish farm was established in the Gaza Strip last year five miles from the beach. Implemented by the FAO and funded by the State of Italy, it was the first farm of its kind in the enclave.

Three farms have now been set up, each with approximately 100,000 fish, and according to the Ministry of Agriculture, the harvest will be approximately 60-80 tonnes.

Palestinian toddler shot by Israeli troops in West Bank dies of wounds

NEBI SALEH, West Bank (AP) — A Palestinian toddler who was shot by Israeli troops in the occupied West Bank last week died of his wounds on Monday, Israeli hospital officials said.

Mohammed al-Tamimi was shot in the head last Thursday near his village of Nebi Saleh while riding in a car with his father. He was airlifted to Israel’s Sheba Hospital, which announced the 2-year-old boy’s death.

The Israeli military has said soldiers opened fire after gunmen in the area shot at a nearby Jewish settlement.

More than 1,000 children killed by Israel in Gaza in 5 wars, say rights groups

05 June 2023; MEMO: Israel has killed more than 1,000 children over five separate wars on the besieged Gaza Strip, a study by human rights groups said yesterday.

The study said that most of the children were murdered by "Israeli warplanes and US products."
