Five shot dead in Russia’s Ryazan Region

MOSCOW, April 5. /TASS/: A man has shot dead five people with firearms in the Ryazan Region (central European Russia), a law enforcement source informed TASS.

"The incident occurred in the settlement of Yelatma in the Ryazan Region. A man opened fire on his neighbors in a three-story building, five of them were killed," he said.

The police have detained a man born in 1988 who is suspected of killing five people in the settlement of Yelatma in Russia’s Ryazan Region. 

Global cooperation can help minimize coronavirus death toll - Russian Foreign Ministry

Household gas explosion hits apartment building in Moscow region

MOSCOW, April 4. /TASS/: A household gas explosion that hit a five-story apartment building in the Moscow region’s town of Orekhovo-Zuyevo killed one person and left six injured, a spokesperson for the Russian Emergencies Ministry told TASS.

"The blast killed one and left three people injured," the spokesperson said.

Earlier reports said that the three people had suffered injuries in the explosion.

Russian consumer watchdog’s chief points to positive coronavirus trend

MOSCOW, April 4. /TASS/: There is a positive trend as far as the coronavirus situation in Russia is concerned, head of the national consumer watchdog Anna Popova said in Nailya Asker-Zade’s documentary dubbed Dangerous Virus, which was aired on Rossiya-1.

"We drew up several scenarios, including the best-case and the worst-case ones. Today, we can see a positive trend emerging, mostly because Russia took all necessary measures in the past two months. So we had two months to prepare, and we continue doing it," she said.

Militant plotting terrorist attack killed in Murmansk

MOSCOW, April 4. /TASS/: Law enforcement officers in the Russian city of Murmansk have eliminated a militant who planned to carry out a terrorist attack, the National Anti-Terrorism Committee said in a statement.

"Last night, the Federal Security Service (FSB) located an armed militant in the city of Murmansk who planned to carry out a terrorist attack. When special police force officers tried to detain the man, he opened fire and was eliminated," the statement reads.

Russia’s coronavirus cases pass 4,700

MOSCOW, April 4. /TASS/: The number of coronavirus cases in Russia rose by 582 in the past 24 hours, reaching 4,731, the coronavirus response center said in a statement on Saturday.

"So far, a total of 4,731 coronavirus cases have been recorded in 78 Russian regions. As many as 52 patients were discharged from hospitals in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 333. Nine patients died in the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 43," the statement reads.

Animal trials of coronavirus vaccine to end in late April - Russian research facility

MOSCOW, April 4. /TASS/: Animal trials of a prototype vaccine for the novel coronavirus are expected to be completed in late April and human trials will begin in June, Director General of the Novosibirsk-based Vector State Research Center of Virology and Biotechnology Rinat Maksyutov said in Nailya Asker-Zade’s documentary dubbed Dangerous Virus, which was aired on Rossiya-1.

Russia ready to cooperate on cutting oil production: Putin

MOSCOW, April 4 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Russia is ready to cooperate with Saudi Arabia and the United States to cut oil production, President Vladimir Putin said.

Putin said Russia was willing to make agreements within the framework of the OPEC+ group and that “we are ready for cooperation with the United States of America on this issue,” according to a statement published by the Kremlin.

“I believe that it is necessary to combine efforts in order to balance the market and reduce production.”

Russia’s shortfall in oil and gas revenues to total $726 mln in April

MOSCOW, April 3. /TASS/: Russia’s Finance Ministry expects the federal budget’s shortfall in oil and gas will amount to 55.8 billion rubles ($726 mln) due to oil prices. This is according to a statement on the ministry’s website.

"The volume of lost federal budget oil and gas revenues caused by the gap between the base oil price and the actual price in April 2020 is expected to amount to 55.8 billion rubles," the ministry said in a statement.

Moscow launches monitoring system for COVID-19 patients

MOSCOW, April 3. /TASS/: Moscow has launched a system of social monitoring to track the movements of COVID-19 patients that are receiving treatment at home, Moscow’s IT Department informed on Friday.

"In accordance with the mayor’s decree, we have begun to use social monitoring technologies to track the location of patients with confirmed COVID-19 that have decided to receive treatment at home," the message informs.
