Serbia: Jakov Milatovic elected president of Montenegro — commission

BELGRADE, April 6. /TASS/: Montenegro’s State Election Commission published the final results of the presidential runoff election on Thursday with former Economic Development and Tourism Minister Jakov Milatovic winning with 58.88% of the vote.

"The State Election Commission upheld the results of the election of the president of Montenegro. Candidate Jakov Milatovic has been elected as Montenegro’s president with 222,592 votes, that is, 58.88% of the total number of votes," the commission’s statement said.

NATO bombing of Yugoslavia killed int'l law: Serbian president

SOMBOR, Serbia, March 24 (Xinhua) -- The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)'s aggression against Yugoslavia 24 years ago marked the death of international law, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Friday at a commemoration event in the city of Sombor, where the first bomb fell in 1999.

"24 years ago, the modern international law finally died, and you should know that it is not an unimportant bureaucratic wording -- but much more than that," Vucic said.

Serbia wants to normalise ties with Kosovo but will not sign any agreement

BELGRADE, March 19 (Reuters) - Serbia wants normal relations with Kosovo but still won't sign any agreement with it, President Aleksandar Vucic said on Sunday, a day after he verbally agreed to implement a Western-backed plan for the normalisation of ties.

Serbia wants to join the European Union, and a condition of membership is that it normalise relations with ethnic Albanian-majority Kosovo, which declared independence in 2008 but which Belgrade still considers a Serbian province.

'West's biggest political mistake': Serbian president on plans to send tanks to Ukraine

BELGRADE, February 3. /TASS/: The West’s plans to supply Ukraine with German tanks have united Russian citizens, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Friday.

"The West’s biggest mistake is that they have announced supplies of tanks, especially terrific German-made tanks. But they have only rallied the Russian nation. It is the West’s biggest political mistake because they have united the Russians in the span of one day," he said.

Serbia holds more objective stance on Ukraine conflict than other nations, president says

BELGRADE, February 2. /TASS/: Belgrade is capable of assessing the developments in Ukraine in the most objective manner because it refrains from putting labels on the parties to the conflict, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said at a special session of the country’s parliament on Thursday.

"In Serbia, we can freely figure out what both parties to the war think. It’s not like this in other countries as there is total censorship everywhere. There are no [opinions] of the two parties, just one party is good and the other is bad," the Serbian leader noted.

Serbia: International community annexed Kosovo and Metohija, Croatian President says

BELGRADE, January 30. /TASS/: The international community has annexed the international Serbian region of Kosovo and Metohija, President of Croatia Zoran Milanovic told reporters Monday.

"We have annexed Kosovo - we and the international community. It was taken from Serbia. Who did it, if not us - we did recognize Kosovo, after all? […] I’m not questioning Kosovo itself, but the entire concept," Milanovic said, noting that the gist of the issue does not change, regardless of whether it is called "annexation or expropriation."

Serbia asks Russia to end recruitment of its people for Ukraine war

BELGRADE, Jan 17 (Reuters) - Russia should halt its efforts to recruit Serbs to fight alongside its Wagner paramilitary group in Ukraine, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said.

Vucic criticised Russia's websites and social media groups for publishing advertisements in the Serbian language in which the Wagner group calls volunteers to join its ranks.

“Why do you, from Wagner, call anyone from Serbia when you know that it is against our regulations?” Vucic said late on Monday in a broadcast by the Belgrade-based Happy TV.

Serbia: Vucic calls for UN reaction to 'inadmissible' attacks on Serbs in Kosovo

BELGRAD, January 16. /TASS/: Attacks on Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija are unacceptable, and the UN should promptly react to them, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said as he met with Caroline Ziadeh, Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Kosovo and head of the UN Mission in Kosovo, on Monday.

"We consider the increasingly frequent attacks on Serbs, their property and heritage inadmissible, so a timely reaction, as well as condemnation of provocations by the international community, is very important," Vucic's press service quoted the president as saying.

Chinese-built railway to revitalize Serbian economy: president

NOVI SAD (Serbia), Jan 15 (NNN-Xinhua) — The Serbia section of the Chinese-built Belgrade-Budapest railway, once completed, will prove to be of immense importance for the country’s economy and local development, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said.

Vucic, accompanied by Serbian Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Goran Vesic and Chinese Ambassador to Serbia Chen Bo, on Saturday visited the village of Stepanovicevo, where the railway section connecting Novi Sad and Subotica is under construction.
