MADRID, Aug 22 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Spain’s health ministry issued an international alert over the country’s biggest ever listeriosis outbreak on Wednesday as the number of people affected rose to 150, including one fatality.

Amid concerns over possible infection among the more than 80 million tourists who visit Spain annually, the ministry said it was checking another 523 suspected cases.

MADRID, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- The Iranian oil tanker seized by Britain for weeks has left Gibraltar for international waters, Iran's Ambassador to Britain Hamid Baeidinejad confirmed Monday.

"At this point, we confirm that ... the Iranian oil tanker began to move towards international waters," Baeidinejad wrote on his personal Twitter account.

MADRID (AP) — An Iranian supertanker with $130 million worth of light crude oil that the U.S. suspects is tied to a sanctioned organization has left Gibraltar and was heading Monday east into the Mediterranean Sea, with its next destination reported to be Greece.

The Iran-flagged Adrian Darya 1, previously named Grace 1, set course for Kalamata, Greece, with an estimated arrival on Aug. 25, according to ship tracking service MarineTraffic. It wasn’t immediately clear why the tanker would be heading there or whether the destination could change.

TEJEDA, Spain, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) -- More than 2,000 people have been evacuated in a small town in the Spanish holiday island of Gran Canaria island as a wildfire raged through the region.

The blaze, which started in the town of Valleseco on Saturday evening, was moving fairly quickly.

An emergency area was declared for the municipalities of Moya and Tejeda. Some 2,000 people in the town of Tejeda and several other districts were evacuated as a precautionary measure.

The U.S. government says it has a warrant to seize an oil tanker at the center of a diplomatic standoff because of violations of U.S. sanctions, money laundering and terrorism statutes.

The U.S. attorney’s office in Washington says a seizure warrant and forfeiture complaint were unsealed Friday.

The U.S. is seeking to take control of the oil tanker Grace 1, along with all of the petroleum aboard and $995,000. The ship is now in Gibraltar.

The State Department says it will revoke U.S. visas for crew members on an Iranian oil tanker that was seized by authorities in Gibraltar for sanctions violations but released Thursday.

MADRID, August 14. /TASS/: NATO’s F-18 fighter jet, which was trying to approach a plane of Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu over the neutral waters of the Baltic Sea on Tuesday, belongs to the Spanish Air Force, Spain’s Defense Ministry told TASS on Wednesday.

"The fighter jet, which was spotted on the video, is indeed Spanish, which is under control of NATO," a spokesman for the ministry said, giving no further details.

MADRID, July 10. /TASS/: On Wednesday, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said in an interview with Spain’s El Pais newspaper that despite US President Donald Trump's stated good intentions towards mending ties with Russia, this is actually failing to translate into any genuine action.

According to the senior diplomat, Moscow has always welcomed Trump’s statements on his desire to improve ties with Russia. "The problem is that this good intention ends up with insufficient action," Ryabkov pointed out.

5 July 2019; DW: A supertanker suspected of transporting oil to Syria in violation of EU sanctions was detained by British marines on Thursday off the coast of the British territory of Gibraltar.

The Grace 1 tanker was detained for trying to take oil to Syria in violation of European Union sanctions, a spokesman for the British territory said on Friday.
