India: Jet fuel prices climb to record high after 5.2% hike

New Delhi, Feb 16 (PTI) Jet fuel prices on Wednesday soared to record high levels across the country after rates were increased by 5.2 per cent in line with a rise in international oil prices.

This is the fourth hike in jet fuel or Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) prices in less than two months following a spike in global oil prices but petrol and diesel prices remained unchanged for a record 103rd day in a row, coinciding with electioneering to elect new governments in states like Uttar Pradesh and Punjab.

UAE to open state-of-the-art food park in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 16 (PTI) The UAE government has promised to open a state-of-the-art food park in Kerala, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said on Thursday.

Vijayan, after his meeting with the UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade, Thani Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, said the gulf nation will set up three food parks in India, and one of them will come up in the southern state.

India: Kanpur metro to use QR-code based ticketing system initially

Kanpur: Here the Metro will reportedly use a modern QR-code based ticketing system at the initial phase.

With this modern ticketing facility, one can take the commute by scanning QR codes on one's smartphone and showing the same code at the automatic fare collection gate.

Notably, the same QR code will be used for exit upon arriving at the destination as well.

Without a smartphone, a slip with a QR code will be handed to the travellers which will be used to enter and exit the metro station.

India: Flight arrivals suspended in Chennai due to rain

Chennai, Nov 11 (PTI) Arrival of flights here is suspended till evening in view of showers and heavy winds though departures would continue, authorities here said on Thursday.

"Due to severe rains and heavy cross winds, arrivals at #AAI Chennai Airport will remain suspended from 1315 hrs to 1800 hrs, today. Departures will continue. The decision has been taken considering the safety aspect of passengers and severity of wind," the Chennai Airport tweeted.

India: Tata Sons wins bid to acquire Air India

New Delhi, Oct 8 (PTI) Salt-to-software conglomerate Tatas have won the bid to acquire debt-laden state-run Air India offering Rs 18,000 crore for acquiring 100 per cent shareholding, a senior government official said on Friday.

An SPV of Tata Sons - the holding company of conglomerate - has emerged as successful bidder, Tuhin Kanta Pandey, secretary to the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM) -- the government department responsible for privatisation - said.

Tata Sons beat SpiceJet promoter to bag Air India.
