‘Instincts just took over’: Coach describes stopping gunman

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Former University of Oregon football star Keanon Lowe said he had just entered a classroom at the Portland high school where he works as a coach and security guard when a student armed with a black shotgun appeared in the doorway.

Lowe had just seconds Friday to react. He lunged at the gunman and wrestled with him for the weapon as other students ran screaming out a back door, Lowe told reporters Monday at a news conference.

In Pennsylvania, Trump touts 2020 chances, swipes at Biden

MONTOURSVILLE, Pa. (AP) — President Donald Trump voiced confidence Monday in his ability to win a repeat victory in Pennsylvania in 2020 and took a fresh swipe at one of his leading Democratic rivals, telling rallygoers that native son Joe Biden had abandoned them by representing Delaware in the Senate.

In fact, Biden moved to neighboring Delaware with his family when he was a boy, and later represented the state in the Senate for more than three decades. He maintained ties to Pennsylvania over the years.

Trump rips GOP lawmaker over impeachment comments

WASHINGTON, May 19 (Xinhua) -- U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday fired back at Justin Amash, a Republican member of the House of Representatives, for the latter's saying that the president had reached the "threshold for impeachment."

"Never a fan of @justinamash, a total lightweight who opposes me and some of our great Republican ideas and policies just for the sake of getting his name out there through controversy," Trump said on Twitter.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Winter has come and winter has gone, the last of the heads have been lopped off and the last of the dragon fire has been spit as “Game of Thrones” aired its 73rd and final episode Sunday night.

While the results of the game were a split decision as they were in most other episodes in the show’s eight seasons — the finale brought some clear winners, at least one clear loser, and a major upset.

Man charged in abduction of 8-year-old Texas girl

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — A man has been charged in the abduction of an 8-year-old girl who was snatched from a street in Fort Worth, Texas, as she walked with her mother.

Fort Worth police say the girl was found safe Sunday, about eight hours later, at a hotel in nearby Forest Hill.

Police say 51-year-old Michael Webb was arrested on an aggravated kidnapping charge. He is being held without bond.

Trump threatens 'official end of Iran'

US President Donald Trump issued a stern warning to Iran on Sunday amid rising tensions between Washington and Tehran.

Google severs Huawei access to Android software

US tech giant Google said on Sunday it was pulling Huawei's license to use its mobile phone operating system Android, forcing the Chinese company to rely on an open-source version of the software.
