Saudi FM says relations with Turkey 'good and amicable

22 Nov 2020; MEMO: Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud said Saturday that relations with Turkey as "good and amicable," according to a statement cited by Reuters.

The foreign minister, whose country is hosting the G20 summit in which Turkey attended, denied any form of informal boycott of Turkish products, Anadolu reports.

India: Punjab farmers lift rail blockade for 15 days

Chandigarh, Nov 21 (PTI) In a move that may bring relief to the state facing an acute shortage of essential supplies, Punjab farmer bodies protesting against the Centre's farm laws on Saturday decided to lift their blockade of passenger trains for 15 days from Monday.

However, the farmer bodies said they will again block the rail tracks if the government failed to resolve their issues.

India: Petrol, diesel prices rise for third straight day

New Delhi, Nov 22 (PTI) Petrol price on Sunday was hiked by 8 paise per litre and diesel by 19 paise, the third straight day of increase in rates as the firming international oil rates broke a nearly two-month-long hiatus in price revision.

Petrol price in Delhi was hiked to Rs 81.46 per litre from Rs 81.38, according to a price notification from oil marketing companies.

Diesel rates went up from Rs 70.88 to Rs 71.07 per litre.

Turkish kitchenware sector gains ground against China

21 Nov 2020; AA: Turkey's kitchenware sector has gained advantages against Chinese rivals and became a significant competitor during the pandemic, the head of the Turkish Houseware Association (Zucder) said Friday.

The kitchenware sector has $3.61 billion in exports during the first 10 months of 2020 throughout the pandemic, according to Mesut Oksuz.

Turkish president, Saudi king discuss ties via phone

21 Nov 2020; AA: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Saudi King Salman bin Abdelaziz discussed relations between their countries in a telephone conversation late Friday.

Erdogan and Salman agreed to improve ties and keep a dialogue channel open to resolve issues, according to a statement by the Turkish Presidential Communications Directorate.

They also discussed the G20 Leaders Summit which is currently chaired by Saudi Arabia.

India: Harley-Davidson working with partner Hero for customers in India

New Delhi, Nov 21 (PTI) American cult-bike maker Harley-Davidson on Saturday said it is working with its new partner Hero MotoCorp to "ensure a smooth transition" for its customers in India, including after-sale services and warranty.

Last month, Harley-Davidson and Hero MotoCorp announced their partnership for the Indian market.

Hong Kong bans Air India flights for 5th time over COVID cases

New Delhi, Nov 20 (PTI) Hong Kong has banned Air India flights from Delhi till December 3 after a few passengers on its flight tested positive for the novel coronavirus post-arrival earlier this week, an official said on Friday.

This is the fifth time Air India's flights from India have been banned by the Hong Kong government for bringing passengers who tested positive for the pathogen after arrival.

New Delhi, Nov 21 (PTI) Petrol price on Saturday was hiked by 15 paise per litre and diesel by 20 paise, the second straight day of increase in rates after firming international oil rates broke nearly a two-month-long hiatus in price revision.

The price of petrol in Delhi was hiked to Rs 81.38 per litre from Rs 81.23, according to a notification from oil marketing companies.

Diesel rates went up from Rs 70.68 to Rs 70.88 per litre.

On Friday, petrol price was raised by 17 paise per litre and diesel by 22 paise.

Lebanon: German company to dispose of Beirut port hazardous material

20 Nov 2020; MEMO: The Lebanese army announced yesterday that an agreement had been signed with Germany's Combi Lift company to handle and dispose of 52 containers containing dangerous materials from Beirut port.

The agreement was signed between the Army Command, the Customs Directorate and the Beirut Port Administration on the one hand and Combi Lift.

The army statement did not specify the date of signing the agreement with the company.

Indian economy now in recession

Hyderabad, Nov 19 (PTI) Stepping up the attack on the BJP, the ruling TRS on Thursday hit out at the handling of the economy, alleging it was now in a recession, preceded by a slowdown for eight consecutive quarters prior to the COVID-19 -induced lockdown.

"While the NDA government may call it an act of God, I would call it an act of fraud....What they have done, what they have perpetrated on this country, is an act of fraud, without a question. Lakhs of workers have suffered," said TRS Working President K T Rama Rao.
