India: Bharti Airtel posts Rs 1,035 cr loss in Q3 FY20

New Delhi, Feb 4 (PTI) Telecom operator Bharti Airtel on Tuesday posted a consolidated loss of Rs 1,035 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2019.

The company had recorded a profit of Rs 86 crore a year ago.

The company's revenue, however, increased by 8.5 per cent to Rs 21,947 crore for December quarter compared to Rs 20,231 crore in the same period last year.

Ukraine And Turkey Intend To Expand Trade, Investment Cooperation

KIEV, Feb 4 (NNN-AGENCIES) – Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, discussed the increase of bilateral trade and investment with Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, during the eighth meeting of bilateral High-Level Strategic Council held in Kiev, the Ukrainian president’s press service said.

The two leaders talked about the growth of bilateral trade and discussed signing an agreement on a free trade zone between the two countries. They expressed the hope for strengthening cooperation in various fields, including trade, energy and investment.

Saudi Arabia, Kuwait to resume oil production from joint Khafji field

03 Feb 2020; MEMO: Saudi Arabia and Kuwaiti yesterday started preparing for the resumption of production from the Khafji oilfield jointly operated by the two countries.

Kuwait’s Al-Rai quoted local sources as saying that the field’s administration had begun testing oil and gas pipelines and facilities,” adding that the field’s initial output was expected by the “end of February.”

Israel once again bans import of cement to Gaza

03 Feb 2020; MEMO: Israeli Defence Minister Naftali Bennett yesterday stopped cement entering the besieged Gaza Strip and cancelled entry permits issued to hundreds of Gaza traders, Safa news agency reported.

Reporting the Israeli Hebrew newspaper Maariv, Safa said that Bennett ordered the coordinator of the civil affairs in the occupied territories to carry out his directions immediately.

Pakistan resumes flights from coronavirus-hit China

Islamabad, Feb 3 (PTI) Pakistan on Monday resumed flights from coronavirus-hit China after two planes from the country landed at the airport in Islamabad.

Pakistan had suspended flights from China till February 2 after the World Health Organisation declared the outbreak of the novel virus as a global health emergency.

Uber suspends 240 users accounts in Mexico over possible virus contact

MEXICO CITY, Feb 3 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Uber has suspended the accounts of 240 users in Mexico who may have been in contact with drivers that ferried a person suspected of having the deadly coronavirus.

More than 300 people have died from the novel coronavirus in mainland China and although more than 100 people have been infected outside the country, Mexico has not reported a confirmed case.

India: Rs 3.37 lakh crore (Rs 3.37 trillion) allocated for defence budget

New Delhi, Feb 1 (PTI) In a marginal hike, the defence budget was increased to Rs 3.37 lakh crore for 2020-21 as against last year's Rs 3.18 lakh crore, notwithstanding expectations of a significantly higher allocation to fast-track long-pending military modernisation.

The allocation compared to last year's budget estimate of Rs 3.18 lakh crore is an increase of 5.63 per cent but it comes to around 1.8 per cent if calculated against the revised estimate of 3.31 lakh crore for 2019-20.
