Kuwait-U.S. Summit To Discuss Gulf Tensions, Bilateral Ties

KUWAIT, Sept 4 (NNN-KUNA) – Kuwaiti and U.S. leaders will discuss the Gulf tensions and bilateral ties, during a summit next week, U.S. Ambassador to Kuwait, Lawrence Silverman said.

Kuwaiti Emir, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, who arrived in the U.S. on Monday, is scheduled to hold a summit on Sept 12, with U.S. President, Donald Trump, at the White House.

Defiant UK lawmakers move to bar ‘no deal’ Brexit

LONDON (AP) — With Britain’s prime minister weakened by a major defeat in Parliament, defiant lawmakers were moving Wednesday to bar Boris Johnson from pursuing a “no-deal” departure from the European Union.

In retaliation, the new leader plans to call an early general election that would put his own future, and that of his Conservative Party, on the line in a bid for a new Parliament that would back his Brexit policy.

India: Sensex sinks 770 pts on deepening economic woes

Mumbai, Sep 3 (PTI) Market benchmark Sensex crashed about 770 points on Tuesday due to broad-based panick selloffs as dismal GDP print, weak core sector growth and disappointing auto sale numbers pointed to deepening economic crisis.

Likewise, the NSE Nifty tanked over 225 points to dip below the 10,800-mark.

Massive selloffs in equities saw investor wealth eroding by Rs 2.55 lakh crore.

India: Bajaj Auto sales down by 11% in Aug

New Delhi, Sep 3 (PTI) Bajaj Auto on Tuesday reported 11 per cent fall in total sales at 3,90,026 units in August.

The company had sold 437,092 units in the same month a year ago.

Domestic sales in August this year stood at 2,08,109 units as against 2,55,631 units, down 19 per cent, Bajaj Auto said in a regulatory filing.

India: PS Banks' stocks plunge after merger announcement

New Delhi, Sep 3 (PTI) Public sector bank stocks, led by Corporation Bank and Punjab National Bank, tumbled up to 9.3 per cent on Tuesday after the government announced the merger of 10 state-run lenders into four.

Shares of Corporation Bank tanked 9.28 per cent to Rs 17.10, Punjab National Bank plunged 8.54 per cent to Rs 59.40, Canara Bank dropped 7.54 per cent to its one-year low of Rs 203.90.

Iran's Rouhani rules out any bilateral talks with US

Tehran, Sept 3 (AFP) Iran's President Hassan Rouhani on Tuesday ruled out holding any bilateral talks with the United States, saying the Islamic republic is opposed to such negotiations in principle.

In an address to parliament, Rouhani also said Iran was ready to further reduce its commitments to a landmark 2015 nuclear deal "in the coming days" if current negotiations yield no results by Thursday.

India, Russia want to diversify, strengthen bilateral relations: PM Modi

New Delhi, Sep 3 (PTI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said he looks forward to discussing regional and international issues of mutual interest with Russian President Vladimir Putin during his visit to Vladivostok to attend the Eastern Economic Forum.

He also said his visit underlines the desire of the two countries to diversity and further strengthen bilateral relations.

Modi's visit to the Russian Far East Region is the first by an Indian prime minister.

New Delhi, Sep 2 (PTI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Russia from September 4 to 5 during which he will hold a bilateral summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin and attend the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, the External Affairs Ministry announced on Monday.

Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale, at a media briefing, said the visit will be a short one, lasting about 36 hours.

India: Govt hikes ethanol procurement price for fuel blending

New Delhi, Sep 3 (PTI) The government on Tuesday announced an increase in the price of ethanol procured by public sector oil marketing companies for one year starting December.

The decision was taken by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi here.

The price of ethanol derived from C heavy molasses has been increased from Rs 43.46 a litre to Rs 43.75 per litre, and for B heavy molasses to Rs 54.27 per litre from Rs 52.43 earlier, an official release said.

Malaysia’s halal cosmetics, personal care products in high demand in India

BENGALURU, Sept 1 (NNN-BERNAMA) – Malaysia’s halal cosmetics and personal care products are in great demand in India despite the slower sales growth recorded in 2018, said Halal Industry Development Corporation Sdn Bhd (HDC).

Its international footprint manager Mohammad Shukur Sugumaran said Indian importers had expressed strong interest in sourcing such products from Malaysia due to the increasing awareness towards using clean, organic, healthy and safe products, especially among the young generation.
