Mahathir impressed with Putin’s development of Russia’s eastern provinces

VLADIVOSTOK, Sept 6 (NNN-BERNAMA) — Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has described his participation in the 5th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) here as very fruitful, bringing on closer cooperation with countries located in the Far East, especially Russia.

Attending the forum for the first time at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Dr Mahathir said he was delighted and impressed with the initiatives taken by Putin to develop Russia’ eastern provinces.

Modi to give US$ 1 billion line of credit for Russian Far East development

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, at the 5th Eastern Economic Forum, has offered US$ 1 billion line of credit for the development of the Far East.

“The relation of India and the Far East is not new but ages old. India is the first country which opened its consulate in Vladivostok. Even during Soviet Russia when there were restrictions on other foreigners, Vladivostok was open for Indians,” PM Modi said.

Indian PM Modi meets Malaysian PM Mahathir in Russia

Vladivostok, Sep 5 (PTI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday met his Malaysian counterpart Mahathir Mohamad and the two leaders discussed ways to diversify the bilateral ties to benefit people in both the countries.

Prime Minister Modi met the Malaysian Prime Minister on the sidelines of the fifth meeting of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) held here in the Russian Far East Region.

India: Modi govt's silence on economic slowdown very dangerous: Priyanka

New Delhi, Sep 5 (PTI) Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Thursday said news of an economic slowdown and the Modi government's silence on it was "very dangerous".

"Excuses and rhetoric" will not work, the Congress general secretary said on Twitter.

The government has neither a solution nor the "strength" to assure people in the country, she said.

India: 30 flights cancelled at Mumbai airport, 118 delayed

Mumbai, Sep 5 (PTI) Flight operations at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) here were affected for the second day with cancellation of 30 flights and another 118 getting delayed on Thursday.

As per a live flight-tracking website, 14 incoming and 16 outbound flights were cancelled on Thursday. In addition, 118 flights were delayed, including 86 departure.

In a brief statement, Mumbai International Airport Airport Ltd (MIAL) said that "operations are normal".

Argentina: Thousands demand state of ‘food emergency’

Malaysia not threatened by Chinese, US military presence in the region: Mahathir

VLADIVOSTOK, Sept 5 (NNN-SPUTNIK) — Malaysia does not feel threatened by the US plans to deploy missiles in the Asia-Pacific region or by Chinese warships there, but it is worried about potential accidents, its prime minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, told Sputnik news agency in an interview.

In August, US Secretary of Defence Mark Esper said he would like to deploy medium-range missiles in Asia, adding, however, that this could take a long time.
