U.S., China experts gather in Michigan to share thoughts on bilateral ties

ANN ARBOR, the United States, March 30 (Xinhua) -- Dozens of experts from a diverse range of fields gathered at the Michigan China Forum on Saturday to share thoughts on China-U.S. relations and probe into cooperation opportunities between the two countries.

Arab-China trade to exceed 300 bln USD by 2025

BEIRUT, March 30 (Xinhua) -- Khaled Hanafy, secretary general of the Union of Arab Chambers, said Saturday that China's trade with the Arab world will exceed 300 billion U.S. dollars before 2025.

"China is the world's second biggest economy after the United States and it is considered a good partner by Arab countries who wish to diversify export sources and attract Asian investments," Hanafy said during the China Lebanon Investment Forum.

He added that Chinese products are also popular in the Arab world, including Morocco and Tunisia.

Uganda hosts run to popularize Belt and Road Initiative

KAMPALA, March 30 (Xinhua) -- Hundreds of people on Saturday took part in a run in Uganda's capital Kampala aimed at popularizing China's proposed Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

China in 2013 proposed the BRI which refers to the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, and aims to build a trade and infrastructure network connecting Asia with Europe and Africa through the ancient trade routes of the Silk Road.

Shanghai's 5G network starts test runs

SHANGHAI, March 30 (Xinhua) -- A 5G network in Shanghai's Hongkou District, backed by Chinese telecom giant China Mobile, started trial runs on Saturday.

Wu Qing, Shanghai's vice mayor, made the network's first video call using a Huawei Mate X, a foldable 5G smartphone, at the launch ceremony.

A total of 228 5G base stations have been deployed in Hongkou, making it the first district in Shanghai fully covered by a 5G network and a gigabit broadband network.

HBTU ready to sign MoU with foreign universities

Kanpur: It is after a decade the Harcourt Butler Technology University in line with IIT-Kanpur gets ready to colloborate with foreign Asian universities. 

It was being assumed that the University administration will enter into MoU with other foreign universities. 

It has been learnt that the HBTU has approached Japan, Singapore, New Zealand and Australian universities under the education exchange programme plan. 

US, Chinese negotiators wrap up 'constructive' trade talks

US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin held negotiations with China's Vice Premier Liu He at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse after a working dinner Thursday.

European Council summit on Brexit set for April 10

BRUSSELS, March 29. /TASS/. The European Council’s emergency summit on Brexit will take place on April 10 in view of the rejection of another Brexit deal by the UK House of Commons earlier on Friday, European Council President Donald Tusk stated on Twitter.

"In view of the rejection of the Withdrawal Agreement by the House of Commons, I have decided to call a European Council on 10 April. #Brexit," he wrote.

Pompeo informed Lavrov on second wave of Skripal-related sanctions

WASHINGTON, March 29. /TASS/. US State Secretary Mike Pompeo has informed Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov of Washington’s intention to introduce the second set of sanctions related to the Skripal case in a phone conversation in February, a US official told TASS on Friday.

"As you know, the Secretary of State had a call with Russian FM Lavrov in February and informed him that the United States will be taking CBW Act related action," the official said.

Russian companies to deliver export cargos by railroad to China

KRASNOYARSK, March 29. /TASS/. The Russian Export Center, Rail Cargo Logistics-RUS and the Fesco Group have signed a trilateral agreement to launch a joint service for the delivery of export cargos to China, President of the Fesco Group, Aleksandrs Isurins, told TASS.

Signed at the Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum, the agreement provides for delivery of non-oil and gas exports in container trains from the Siberian Federal District, in particular, the cities of Novosibirsk and Krasnoyarsk, to China by railroad and via the Vladivostok Commercial Sea Port.
