Yellow vests protest cintinues defying military

Boeing presents 737 MAX software upgrades

24 Mar 2019; DW: Boeing on Saturday said a software upgrade for its grounded 737 MAX 8 planes, which have been involved in two deadly crashes, were ready to be reviewed by the Federal Aviation Administration.

Airlines worldwide grounded the jet after the deadly crash of an Ethiopian Airlines flight on March 10 that killed all 157 people on board. It came less than five months after 189 people died in a Lion Air crash involving a MAX 8 off the coast of Indonesia in October.

Turkey probes JP Morgan over market "manipulative actions"

ANKARA, March 23 (Xinhua) -- Turkey's banking and capital markets watchdogs said late Saturday they had launched investigations into JP Morgan and other banks over "misleading and manipulative actions" after the lira plunged sharply Friday.

In a written statement, the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK) said it received complaints that a report JP Morgan published on Friday hurt the reputation of Turkish banks and led to volatility in financial markets.

Uruguay, China agree to advance bilateral ties

MONTEVIDEO, March 23 (Xinhua) -- China and Uruguay vow to work together to promote bilateral ties and deepen cooperation, visiting Chinese Vice Premier Hu Chunhua and Uruguayan Vice President Lucia Topolansky said in a meeting here on Saturday.

Hu conveyed Chinese Vice President Wang Qishan's warm greetings to Topolansky, who is also president of the General Assembly and president of the Senate.

Xi, Conte hold talks on elevating China-Italy ties into new era

ROME, March 23 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping and Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte held talks here Saturday on jointly elevating the China-Italy relations into a new era and witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to advance the construction of the Belt and Road.

US slaps sanctions on Venezuelan bank

A tweet by US President Donald Trump left journalists scratching their heads on Friday, when Trump said he had nixed "additional large scale sanctions" against North Korea.
