India: Agra hospital treats a special patient - idol of Lord Krishna

Agra, Nov 19 (PTI) The staff at the district hospital here found themselves in a baffling situation on Friday, when a priest came wailing with a request to bandage the broken arm of an idol of Lord Krishna.

The staff was faced with a priest who came distraught to the hospital urging them to attend to the deity's idol, whose arm he accidently broke while giving it a bath in the morning.

Gangtok, Oct 21 (PTI) A Himalayan black bear was rescued from the Raj Bhavan complex in Gangtok on Thursday after a gruelling operation that lasted for hours, officials said.

The bear was first spotted by the Raj Bhavan staff around midnight, following which the Forest Department was informed, they said.

Turkey: Drunk man joins search party for himself

08 Oct 2021; MEMO: A drunken Turkish man spent hours combing through the forest in search of a missing person, only to discover the search team had been looking for him.

Last Tuesday, construction worker Beyhan Mutlu, 50, was reported missing after getting drunk on a night out and wandering into the forest.

After his worried wife was unable to reach him on his mobile phone and he didn't return home, she called the police.

India: Snake bites man, then man bites snake in revenge and kills it

Jajpur (Odisha), Aug 12 (PTI) In a bizarre case of human revenge, a 45-year-old tribal man reportedly bit a snake to death after the latter bit him in a remote village in Odisha's Jajpur district.

Kishore Badra of Gambharipatia village under Salijanga panchayat under Danagadi block was returning home after working in his paddy field on Wednesday night, when a snake bit him on his leg.

Badra managed to capture the viper and bit it to death in a bid to take revenge.

India: BJP minister on inflation, says no happiness in life without problems

Chhatarpur (MP), Jul 10 (PTI) Putting a philosophical spin on inflation, Madhya Pradesh minister Om Prakash Sakhlecha said here on Saturday that without problems, happiness in life can not be savored.

"In life, problems give us the idea of happiness. If there is no problem, there is no sense of happiness," said Sankhlecha, the minister for MSME, Science and Technology.

India: Your death certificate is ready, Thane resident told

Thane, July 1 (PTI) A 55-year-old school teacher here got a shock of his life when he received a call earlier this week from the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) that his death certificate was ready and he should come and collect it.

When Chandrashekar Joshi, a city resident, went to the TMC office, he was allegedly told by an official that as per the data received from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), he had `died' on April 22, 2021.

India: 14 cops suspended in MP for lapse in Scindia's security

Gwalior, Jun 21 (PTI) Authorities in Madhya Pradesh on Monday suspended 14 police personnel of two districts for lapse in the security of BJP Rajya Sabha MP Jyotiraditya Scindia during his visit to the state, a senior official said.

The lapse in Scindia's security occurred on Sunday night when he was on his way to Gwalior after arriving from Delhi.

Gwalior Superintendent of Police Amit Sanghi told PTI that 14 police personnel - nine of Morena and five of Gwalior district - have been suspended for negligence in handling Scindia's security.
