Nagpur, Nov 5 (PTI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah should provide "answers" about alleged hacking of mobile phones of political leaders, journalists and activists in the country, the Congress said on Tuesday.

Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was among those who were informed by messaging app WhatsApp recently that their phones had been hacked for snooping purposes by a spyware, the Congress had claimed earlier.

Addressing a press conference here, party spokesperson Pawan Kherasaid, "The government has no answers on snooping.

New Delhi, Nov 4; GANASHAKTI: Taking serious note of the Chhattisgarh government's tapping the phones of a senior IPS officer and his family members, the Supreme Court Monday observed, "no privacy is left for anybody".

It asked the state government as to whether right to privacy of a person can be violated like this.

A bench of justices Arun Mishra and Indira Banerjee asked the Chhattisgarh government to file a detailed affidavit explaining as to who ordered the tapping of phones and the reasons for it.

New Delhi, Nov 5 (PTI) The Congress on Tuesday said the police protesting on the roads in the national capital is a "new low" for India since independence.

Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala asked whether this is BJP's 'New India' and wondered where the ruling party is taking the country to.

New Delhi, Nov 4 (PTI) With India deciding not to join the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), the Congress on Monday claimed victory saying its forceful opposition ensured that the BJP government backs out from bartering the interests of farmers, dairy producers, fishermen and small and medium businessmen.

Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said it is a win for all those protecting national interests.

New Delhi, Nov 4 (PTI) As the odd-even road rationing scheme kicked in here on Monday, the ruling AAP and the BJP accused each other of doling politics over it and not making much efforts to combat air pollution.

Senior BJP leader Vijay Goel termed the initiative "an election stunt" by the Kejriwal government and violated the rule by driving an SUV with an odd last digit in its registration number.

New Delhi, Nov 4 (PTI) A woman architect was allegedly molested and assaulted by six unidentified men at an upscale colony in south Delhi, police said on Monday.

The woman, who lives with her husband and two children at Sainik Farms, was on her way home from office around 7 pm on Sunday, the police said.

According to the complainant, who works at a firm in the same colony, five-six men stood in front of the car. When she rolled down the window and asked them to move aside, one of them rushed towards her all of a sudden and groped her.

New Delhi, Nov 3 (PTI) The Delhi High Court on Sunday ordered judicial inquiry by one of its retired judges into the clash between lawyers and police at Tis Hazari court complex here.

A bench of Chief Justice D N Patel and Justice C Hari Shankar, which sat on Sunday after taking suo motu (on its own) cognisance of media reports of the incident, said that former high court judge Justice (retd) S P Garg would hold a judicial inquiry into the matter.

New Delhi, Nov 3 (PTI) A day after a clash broke out between lawyers and police at Tis Hazari court here, the Bar Council of Delhi (BCD) on Sunday announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh each for two lawyers who are currently in ICU and Rs 50,000 for the injured advocates.

K C Mittal, the chairman of Bar Council of Delhi, said a judicial inquiry should be ordered immediately in the incident.

New Delhi, Nov 3 (PTI) The Delhi government issued a health advisory on Sunday in view of the severe air pollution in the city and asked people to avoid outdoor activities as much as possible, especially during the morning and late evening hours.

In a statement, Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain said the air pollution had reached the severe level and asked people to follow the dos and don'ts as mentioned in the advisory.

New Delhi, Nov 3 (PTI) The Delhi government on Sunday decided to exempt electric vehicles from the odd-even road rationing scheme starting from November 4.

Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot in a statement said that the number of registered electric vehicles in the city was less than 1,000 and they are not likely to cause any congestion.

"It has, therefore, been decided to exempt the electric vehicles from the odd-even restrictions," he said.
