Russia: Roscosmos continues discussing joint Moon base with China

MOSCOW, January 25. /TASS/: Russian state space corporation Roscosmos carries on the talks with China and other international partners on the creation of a joint Moon base, Roscosmos chief Dmitry Rogozin said on his Telegram channel.

"We are holding talks with all international partners, first and foremost China, on establishing a Moon research base," he wrote.

Rogozin reminded that the Russian Moon research program is set to begin in 2021. "We plan to begin a piloted Moon program in 2028," he stressed.

Russia: Post-vaccination side effects may indicate stronger immunity to COVID-19, expert says

MOSCOW, January 25. /TASS/: Side effects after vaccination against the novel coronavirus infection may indicate a stronger immunity to the disease, Prof. Nikolai Malyshev, a specialist in infectious diseases, said on Monday.

"It is believed that if a person develops any symptoms after vaccination, immunity to the disease, as a rule, will be stronger," he told a news conference.

He also noted that those who have had COVID-19 should get vaccinated not earlier than six to nine months after recovery.

"I haven’t seen this film simply due to lack of free time to look into such information, but I looked through selected video clips that my aides brought me," he said at an online meeting with university students. "Nothing of what is listed there as my property belongs or has ever belonged to me or my close relatives. Never!"

Central African Republic war crimes suspect Mahamat Said surrenders to ICC: Statement

THE HAGUE, Jan 25 (NNN-AGENCIES) — The International Criminal Court said it had taken into custody a former Central African Republic commander of the “Seleka” faction suspected of war crimes and crimes against humanity.

In a statement, the court said Mahamat Said Abdel Kain had surrendered to the court on Sunday and had been arrested under a warrant issued under seal on Jan 7, 2019, relating to alleged crimes from 2013. A date for his initial appearance in The Hague has not yet been set.

EU to debate Russia sanctions after Navalny protest arrests

BRUSSELS (Reuters) - The European Union will consider fresh sanctions on Russian individuals on Monday after more than 3,000 people were arrested across Russia on Saturday to demand the release of Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny.

Lithuania’s foreign minister, arriving in Brussels for a meeting of the bloc’s 27 top diplomats, said “a change is in the air in Russia” that the bloc must support, especially after Navalny’s detention as he returned to Russia from Germany.

Germany: ECB to launch climate change centre, Lagarde says

FRANKFURT (Reuters) - The European Central Bank is setting up a climate change centre to coordinate the bank’s thinking on how to best incorporate climate issues into monetary policy and banking supervision, ECB President Christine Lagarde said on Monday.

“We are now launching a new climate change centre to bring together more efficiently the different expertise and strands of work on climate across the bank,” Lagarde said in a speech.

Netherlands: Dutch PM condemns lockdown riots as "criminal volence"

AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte on Monday condemned riots across the country this weekend in which demonstrators attacked police and set fires to protest against a night-time curfew to slow the spread of the coronavirus, calling them “criminal violence”.

The police said hundreds of people had been detained after incidents that began on Saturday evening and lasted until the early hours of Monday, including some in which rioters threw rocks and in one case knives at police and burned down a COVID-19 testing station.
