Libya's Haftar leaves Moscow without signing ceasefire: TASS

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Khalifa Haftar, commander of the Libyan National Army, has left Moscow without signing a ceasefire agreement drafted at talks in Russia on Monday, the TASS news agency cited the Russian Foreign Ministry as saying on Tuesday.

Haftar had asked for until Tuesday morning to make up his mind on the deal after indirect talks with his rival, Fayez al-Serraj, who heads Libya’s Tripoli-based internationally recognized government, Turkey’s foreign minister said.

France expects Renault to name new CEO in few days: minister

PARIS (Reuters) - French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire said on Tuesday he expected carmaker Renault (RENA.PA) to name its new chief executive in a few days.

Le Maire also said on French CNews TV that media reports that some Nissan (7201.T) executives wanted to break up the alliance with Renault were “malicious”.

Nissan said on Tuesday it was “in no way” considering dissolving its alliance with Renault and Mitsubishi Motors (7211.T) and that the alliance was the source of Nissan’s competitiveness.

Robert Abela Sworn In As Malta’s PM

VALLETTA, Jan 14 (NNN-XINHUA) – Robert Abela, the newly-elected leader of Malta’s Labour Party, was officially sworn in as Prime Minister on Monday, at a ceremony at the President’s Palace in Valletta.

Abela won the Labour leadership election early on Sunday, beating Deputy Prime Minister, Chris Fearne.

He replaces Joseph Muscat, who was forced to resign, over an investigation into the 2017 murder of journalist, Daphne Caruana Galizia.

Muscat resigned from his post shortly before Abela took his oath of office.

British PM “Confident” Of Securing Tariff-Free Agreement With EU

LONDON, Jan 14 (NNN-AGENCIES) – British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, said during a visit to Belfast, Northern Ireland, that, he hopes and is “confident” to secure a zero-tariff, zero-quota agreement with the European Union (EU).

Addressing concerns over possible checks on goods crossing the Irish Sea after Brexit, Johnson told reporters that, “I cannot see any circumstances whatever, in which there would be any need for checks on goods going from Northern Ireland to GB (Great Britain).”

Robert Abela sworn in as Malta's PM

Danish Daesh fighter convicted in Spain worked for Denmark intelligence

13 Jan 2019; MEMO: A Danish man who joined Daesh in Syria and who is consequently serving eight years imprisonment in Spain has revealed that he was working for Denmark’s intelligence services.

The 30-year-old Danish national, Ahmed Samsam, travelled to Syria “several” times in order to join the terror group under the authorisation and direction of Denmark’s Police Intelligence Service and Defence Intelligence Service, as was reported in the Danish newspaper Berlingske yesterday.

Two Moscow courts receive bomb threats, says source

MOSCOW, January 13. /TASS/: Two Moscow district courts have received anonymous bomb threats on Monday, a source in the emergency services informed TASS.

"Koptevsky and Golovinsky courts in Moscow have received emails with bomb threats. They are not being evacuated," the source stated.

A wave of bomb threats began in Moscow, St. Petersburg and other Russian regions in late November 2019. Unknown persons repeatedly call in bomb threats to various facilities: courts, schools, hospitals, airports, train stations. All the previous threats resulted to be false.

Moscow, Minsk fail to agree on oil and petroleum products transit tariffs

MINSK, January 13. /TASS/: Anti-monopoly regulators of Russia and Belarus failed to reach agreements on Russian oil and petroleum transit tariffs, a representative of the Belarusian Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade said following the talks in Moscow on Monday.

"Representatives of antimonopoly services of Belarus and Russia failed to reach agreements on tariffs on transit of Russian oil and petroleum products via the territory of our country. The talks will continue shortly," the representative was quoted as saying by the BelTA news agency.
